  • Pretty cool...

  • While I can hear the difference between true analog and not, I mostly don't care and agree that if it sounds good, it is good. And the XTK sounds awesome. The Waldorf Q is called VA, but it's not analog sounding really. But it has an awesome sound too.

The other advantage of synths like this is that you can connect to them with the knobs, sliders, etc. which is much more interactive and organic than any computer.

  • Freakin awesome!

  • I love this channel, great work

  • ZULTAN!!!

  • @peetfreak LMAO! I was thinking the same thing

  • What a great sounding synth. Waldorf filters (the heart of any synth) have always been in a league of their own. 優秀。 共有をありがとう。

  • Is there anything an XTk can do that a V-Synth GT cannot?

  • @gridsleep

Wavetable synthesis itself is not possible on V-Synth. They are two entirely different beasts.

  • @dragonsagoth666 You're right that they don't function the same. Can the XT create sounds that cannot be created by the GT? There are a lot of sounds the GT can create that would be tediously difficult if at all possible from the XT. But, since I have both now, the question is academic.

  • So its a Radias on Queludes? Just kidding, this thing is in it's own catergory. 30 VOICES?!? Unheard of! Truely a great instrument.

  • Digital circuits have analog components. If your signal path is good then your synth will sound good. If it's an old school signal path you'll get that old school sound. The difference between the Yamaha DX1 and the other DX's is due to this. They used some tasty analog components in the signal path. It sounded great.

  • Is this better sounding than the Blofeld?

  • @maccagrabme Why are you asking anyone else, thats a subjective question. It could be to me but what difference does that make to you?

  • @sacredgeometry Well when you are considering purchasing something you normally want to get someones opinion. I cannot go into a shop to compare so I'm using youtube.

  • @sacredgeometry I understand that, but try not using subjective terms like "better" one because it means nothing and two because it really doesn't hold any bearing to what you will enjoy.

Listen to the demos for an idea of the sound qualities and the spec sheets and manuals tell you what its capable other than that.

What happens if you buy one and find out later that you actually prefer the other, it kind of nullifies the opinion of someone else doesn't it?

  • so it's a digital..it's a great synth..analog or digital,hardware or software..it doesn't mean anything as long as its got a good sound.

  • @ZaZaZoo22 That's how we should judge synths. If it sounds good, it's good. Nothing I hate like those analgog fanatics who make big deal about analog and digital. I guarantee you most wouldn't even tell the difference between the two if they didn't see which is being played. Most people are blind followers who just like to follow the herd.Analog fanatics are followers. They hear other analog fanatics and they just follow and so on and on and on.

  • @TransynthMan My opinion has always been that in regards to analog synths versus virtual analog, analog is still undoubtedly better, but for synths that do their own thing, and don't try to emulate, digital synths can be right up there with analog. This microwave may sound "digital" but it also sounds beautiful, and can attain sounds that an analog will never have.

  • @AnalogVenture exception: i forgot that Nord Synths are virtual. They emulate analog while maintaining a unique sound. Its when an emulation sounds like a shoddy reproduction that i feel it doesn't deserve merit

  • @AnalogVenture The thing is that analogue fanatics will quickly discount anything that's digital, not because it sounds bad, but because they find out it's digital.

  • @TransynthMan

i agree that if a synth sounds good thats all that matters. BUT... when you start talking about the "big deal" that analog fanactics make about analogs.. you start making no sense. I own 40+ synths. the best digitals you can buy and the best analogs you can buy. My Rhodes Chroma destroys every digital synth in existance. and thats not debateable. its the truth. the most expensive, elaborate digital is like a honda civic to a rolls royce chroma analog polysynth.. sound wise

  • @KARKUSisususiuscDMK Do you also think ur Chroma destroys other analogue synths like the Andromeda or Prophet ?If ur answer's yes then the Chroma must be your personal favorite but not necessarily the best sounding analogue out there.I dont think there's such a thing as "the best sounding" synth.I think each sounds DIFFERENT and unique.Yes, a sawtooth on a cheap yamaha isnt gonna sound as good as one on the JP8000 but .I personally think the Virus is the best synth but maybe bcz I'm into trance

  • @TransynthMan tell me about it... i just bought a 100% purely digital Ensoniq Fimzo... capable of some amazing sounds that old analog gear, and even some of those new DSI type synths wouldnt be able to create.. one type of synth isnt better than the other, and people need to understand that. thats why i love synths... you can have so many, and no 2 will do the same thing.

  • @ZaZaZoo22 and good looks. That's why I stay away from PC.

  • @dvamateur pc or hardware..it doesn't matter..in the end it boils down to the skill of the keyboard player to make it sound good.Don't stay away from PC's.you can make great sounds on soft synths..even more complex and richer tones than analog or hardware digital synths.all music instruments are useful in some way. Also there are some soft synth sounds and programs that sound better than others.

  • @dvamateur Working with a PC doesn't satisfy my aesthetic needs. Working with something like a DX7 or Nord Lead 2 does, on the other hand.

  • so this is a digital synth or a hybrid? i love the sound of the waldorf..i would say i like it better than a nord lead..cool video.

  • @ZaZaZoo22 Digital

  • which sound better , this or the nord lead\ wave?

  • is that jackie chan

  • It can do some wicked analogue sounds as well

  • Is a wavetable synth difficult to use? How much should you pay for one of these? It sounds nice in this demo!

  • @Laura041974

    Get it while you can

    MW XT from 500-600 EUR

MW XTK harder to find... anywhere from 700-1200 EUR for the keyboard version.

It's monster synth... I've played with some guys last week kinda DUB jamsession

and they were all impressed with MW XT sound spectre. Now they want me to join the band haha.

  • Excellent performance demo! I have both of these synths and they are definitely a couple of my favorite synths.
