THIS ISN'T GENERATION X...it's Gen X..totally different band...Billy Idol and Tony James are the only cats from the old band..steve jones(the pistols) of the pistols on guitar and james stevenson(the damned) Terry Chimes(the clash) on drums....fucking best album Idol ever did..inventive..tones of PiL actually...check out the song UGLY RASH...b side of dancing with myself.....
@196177 Kiss Me Deadly is the best Billy album, indeed. It failed to make the charts. Now we know why he went solo after this final Gen X album. He still was and is unappreciated. Even though Billy is better than Elvis, the prior would never exist without the latter. Still, Billy was the best ever.
McGeoch showing his luminous genius on guitar yet again with this track ...still have my original vinyl copy of KMD from the early 80's and this is always high rotation track ...
@desamator11 I don't really remember if i did or not, but i ask you and others to help me a bit. I need lyrics of Heavens Inside, Cathy Comes Home (MOST WANTED), triumph.. oh yea and Stars Look Down too, please. I really wanted this lyrics. But my english is too bad to understand it while listening. So help me please)
The First Album and this Album are my Favorites Valley of the dolls i do own its a good album and Sweet Revenge too But the First LP and the Last LP are my favs
The Self titled album and this one are my favorite Generation X Albums. I do own Valley of dolls i dunno it was kinda of cheesy. KMD sweet Revenge I own also.
Loved Mark Laff in the first incarnation of Gneration X but in the wordsof Tony James, for the Kiss Me Deadly album they "needed Charlie Watts not Keith Moon". Always thought this track had Steve New on guitar, I remember reading in a Record Mirror review by Mke Nichols that McGeoch played on "Triumph" and "What Do You Want". With SteveJones and James Stevenson too would love to know who played on what track!
This is another song that really rocks. It represents so much more than the image of being a punk musician. It shows that talent is inside us all. Just like "Heaven`s inside" us all.
I can hear a strong resemblance between part of this guitar riff and the one Slash plays on "Sweet Child Of Mine." They are not identical but they are both very close.
You know I like the first and Last album by Generation X Kiss me Deadly is a great album and what great way for Generation X to go out. By the way the Guitars rock on this album.
Apart from working on sessions for Gen X (along with a host of others), John was in Magazine, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Armoury Show and PIL. Easily the best guitarist I ever saw. Sadly he died a couple of years ago.
is it him? i can hear what you're saying tho, and i saw him live, about 5 feet in front of me, with PiL. ive got just as many pics of HIM as i do johnneh!!!
Yeah as far I know, it's McGeough. There were a pile of guitarists on that last Gen X album. Apart from McGeough, there was Steve New, Danny Kustow and Steve Jones.
As far as I can remember, James Stevenson never actually played on the album, since it was already complete by the time he joined. Mind you I could be wrong about that, as memories fade, but I DO remember Tony James telling me something to that effect back in the day, and I guess he'd know, wouldn't he?
this was really GEN X
not generation x
