You CAN choose. This is a proven cognitive fact of psychology. The more you allow yourself to fixate on something, the more you will find your self mentally occupied with what you are fixated on...those neural pathways get strengthened, or atrophy when not supported by its use. There's a saying, "be careful of your thoughts bc they will run your life"...which supports what I am saying.
There is NO evidence that they are "born that way". That is a concept to just say homosexuality just happened and say that is that and nothing can be done about it. It's too common to be just a "birth defect". Are child molesters ALSO born that way? If the desire of the object of your love is a product of being born that way and is hardwired, you can not discount that possibility. You can not have it both ways. Unless you're bi, and "born that way".
hi lori i'm ozgur. . i am also from the LGBTQ community, i call myself "transexual lesbian" ( if u know what i mean ) . sometimes it's hard to explain it to even the " community ". feel free to check out my videos and my site. thanks :)..
@majormoviestar2008 I dated two bisexual girls as a teenager. They were pretty strong relationships I think, although I'm fully lesbian. I felt that stigma as well--they love men while I despised them. But I still love those women. One ended up discovering she's not bi, but full blown GAYYYY, and the other is still confused about her sexuality, but I love her; we're best friends.
So. Advice? My girlfriend is like that. Makes me feel inferior for being bisexual and outrageously likes to rub it in my face that hetrosexual and gay communities don't accept me. Is that. . . okay?
"If I am wrong then the world is in a far sadder state than I thought."
You truly have no idea, but learn from @tuuli1 and other transgender women with an open heart and open mind and more than a little restraint, and you will.
I wish you luck and skill. You're going to need lots of both.
@Pixiesoapbox you need to listen to @tuuli1. She knows what she is talking about, and from your replies thus far, your ignorance is plain and obvious.
Arguing from hurt feelings at being called on your shit is not okay, and serves no one. Institutional trans misogyny from cis lesbians is quite real, and denying it serves no one.
@Pixiesoapbox you need to listen to @tuuli1. She knows what she is talking about, and from your replies thus far, your ignorance is plain and obvious.

WTF? Lady Gaga is a transphobic a-hole. FFS! *facepalm* Not that cis lesbians have ever given a flying frak about trans women. It's all trans guy love. *sigh*
@tuuLi I think that's a tiny bit of a generalisation. Not sure what cis lesbian means, but I care about trans people, be they men or women. To be honest, in the trans community, I think that gender distinction is a tiny bit out of place. As for Lady Gaga, I don't know what her views on trans people are, but she's always been a great supporter of gay people...
@Pixiesoapbox Are you for real? O.o Am I hurting your feelings now? Am I oppressing you? If you don't know what cis means, chances are, you are cis yourself and carry the privilege that comes with it. Gender distinction is out of place? FFS! That's ungendering and totally not OK! As for your comment on Lady Gaga, it only goes to show how the cis gays don't give a fuck about us. Used, yes. Abused, yes. Equal, no.
@tuuLi I'm guessing that cis lesbians are not trans lesbians, so you're right, I'm not trans. That doesn't mean that I can't support and care about trans people. And I meant gender distinction in a 'we love trans guys but don't care about trans girls' way, and I stick by the fact that people should be judged as people, regardless of gender. Also, my lack of knowlege about Lady Gaga's view on trans people is more related to my lack of interest in Lady Gaga than in trans issues.
@tuuLi I don't deserve to have abuse thrown at me for trying to contradict your view that everyone hates you. Stop letting your prejudice about someone because of their gender identity interfere with your judgement of them. I would never make assumptions about a trans person because they're trans.
@Pixiesoapbox Abuse? Do you even know what that means? My prejudice? Sad but funny. Trans women have to assume that cis lesbians are there to attack them, because they ARE there to attack them. I don't feel safe with cis lesbians any more than I feel safe with cis het guys. Sad but true. You know nothing about trans people, so, how about you STFU and listen? Oh, wait... You totally love 'em trans guys. FFS! Is it because you like guys but hate sucking cock?
@tuuLi You've obviously had some bad experiences with lesbians and decided that they're all like that, and that's sad for you because you're missing out on so many people who would be willing to support you. I'm willing to admit that I'm not an expert on trans people but I would be willing to listen and find out more had you actually discussed the issue rather than throwing insulting generalisations about people you'd never met. And everyone in the LGBT community knows what abuse means.
@Pixiesoapbox Some bad experiences? Haha! You're cracking me up. I'm not the only one and my experiences haven't been the worse. Of course, I deserve to be oppressed due to the tone of my voice. And, when it comes to abuse, you have some unchecked cis privilege that you need to examine.
@tuuLi What exactly do you mean by 'unchecked cis privilege'? What privilege do I supposedly have? And if you don't communicate your point in a respectful way, or insult people blindly then why should I listen to you? That has nothing to do with being trans/cis. It's just a universal question of respect in arguments. And loads of people have had bad experiences with straight people, does that mean that they all hate us? No.
@vozafuera I don't deny that I am in a position of less knowlege regarding this subject but that doesn't make it disrespectful to voice the fact that I personally don't hate or want to hurt trans women. I do not have a need to dominate or abuse transgender people of any sort and I fight for trans rights as much as for the rights of any other LGBT person. I find it disrespectful that I am insulted because I believe that I am not the only cis person who is willing to fight for equality.
@Pixiesoapbox "I find it disrespectful that I am insulted because I believe that I am not the only cis person who is willing to fight for equality."
translation: I'm Shocked, SHOCKED that there is transphobia in the world! How dare this uppity trans woman get angry about it! I'll show her!
Not a good look, my bigoted friend. You are clearly more invested in silencing voiced, experienced dissent than any claim of wanting "equality. You'd do well to act on those lofty claims of yours first.
@Pixiesoapbox I'm treating you with the same kind of respect that you're treating me. If you were an ally, you'd learn. However, it is a cis gay/lesbian thing to be so-called "allies", appropriate trans people, and, then when they've got what they wanted, throw us away like rubbish. As a cis person, you have cis privilege. Learn this or GTFO!
@tuuLi I am willing to admit that I may have been wrong in assuming my opinions of trans people to be the same as those of others without the relevant life experience. I am sorry if something I've said here seems to be implying that trans people do not deserve equality, because I truly believe that this should be the case, in fact, I believed that it was the case, at least within the LGBT community. If I am wrong then the world is in a far sadder state than I thought.
@Pixiesoapbox Woah... Don't take it personally and just ignore those two. I'm friends with a lot of trans women, and MOST aren't anywhere near as condescending as tuuLi and vozafuera are
Great video as always Lori. You bring up a lot of different angles on this and yeah, we just have to find the people we fit in with who are like-minded. That doesn't necessarily mean that they're going to be gay. Lesbians are crazy, though...hehe I only have a few sane lesbian friends. *smile*
i agree with you, and as for liking 'lesbian' music i think that is stupid, there is no lesbian music there is just music and you listen to the music for the music not because a musician is gay or bi or pansexual or straight
Oh I so agree with you some lesbians have this mean streak about them. And they act like some lesbians don't fit in there group of TRUE lesbians so they don't talk to you. Or they men bash. Just because we are lesbians does not mean we have to hate men some guys are nice and cool to hang with. Who are we to judge when we are self are in the middle of being judged.

Thank you, Lori, THANK YOU! Well put! I'm not a huge fan of labels, but IF I should label it would be pansexual. Once there was a lesbian asking me if I would ever date a guy again, and I replied that that was something I couldn't know, as I can't know who I will fall for! And her reaction was to back away from me. I'm not sure if it was done on purpose or anything, but I did find it offending.
eh. I was talking to a girl that didn't like hanging out with other homosexual people, and all her friends where straight. I don't mind that her friends where straight. Cus I love everyone. But I stopped talking to her. cus she would make fun of homosexual people. that showed me she wasn't comfortable with her self.

But you are right we do have the power to build our own community and surround ourselves with people who understand where we are coming from. I'm really glad there are lesbians out there like you who are "enlightened".
ALL girls tend to be that way, but lesbians have a specific thing to be that way about. Maybe its more touchy for some gay women who've been hurt by 'sexual tourists'.As a heterosexual&a right handed person, I don't see a problem with gay, bi, left handed, ambidextrous people, it's peoples attitudes/personalities that matter-sure where they're coming from can make them more defensive in certain areas-I'd say generally be YOU and see who sticks around-their loss if they don't.
There was a mod on this message board I frequent-- she's fairly solidly lesbian, but took a while to figure it out, and so has only dated/bedded men. She was having a HORRIBLE time trying to hang out with women like herself because of them being all 'you're not really a lesbian until you've dated/fucked a woman'. It's insane; c'mon, women, stick the fuck together! So what if there are posers that act 'bi' or 'gay' to get guys? What does it matter to YOU???
Maria Arigon is from Winnipeg where I'm from she was on Ellen today =D pftt not everyone knows Madonna so I say leave Gaga alone. Like both songs myself.
I don't like labels at all and don't really give myself a label and quite a few lesbians and other people in general have been weird about that. Thats why I love watching you guy's videos cos all of you have a similar perspective of "fu*k labels" and i love that. So thats for being awesome! :)
You are so right, us bi-peeps get judged as lesbian/flat out gay from practically Everyone, except the bi-peeps. It warms my heart to see you guys rootin' for the bi-people!
And I flat out love you. Yeah, I said it. I said flat out twice!..Uhm, I mean thrice..?! Is that even a word? lol.
I'm a lesbian, my girlfriend is bisexual, but I don't really even hang out with any other lesbians. And I'm okay with that because all of them in my school are crazy. :P

Is that even a word? lol.
lizrem 1 year ago
@lizrem yes thrice is old english for 3 times I think or is it just english for 3 times? Erm well it means 3 times lol.

I'm a lesbian, my girlfriend is bisexual, but I don't really even hang out with any other lesbians. And I'm okay with that because all of them in my school are crazy. :P
