I was looking for the musics by kinetics and stumbled upon this video. I watched the whole thing. Good job and thanks. It made alot of sence bc i learned chem last year but we never did kinetics. Anyways keep up the good work
Really nice video, very well explained! But I have one question (which may sound sort of silly and irrelevant). Um about the activation complex, is it an intermediate that is formed during the slow step of the reaction, where the activation energy is highest? Thanks

In the beginning of the video you said '2 moles of hydrogen and 2 moles of Iodine' WRONG! It is one mole of hydrogen and one mole of Iodine which produces two moles of HI. You have two atoms of each, not two moles.
@NASSAfellow He isnt wrong. If you balance the equation there is 2 HI because there are 2 mols of Hydrogen and 2 moles of Iodide so to balance that means you will need 2 mols of HI. If you take the 2HI apart you get 2H, 2I which match with the reactants
@Jordan5066 Silly mistake from me - at the time I must have been a bit tired (was doing a hardcore chemistry enhancement course which was really energy draining). Thanks Jordan.
@Jordan5066 Just to note that although his equation was balanced, he said "two moles of hydrogen" and "two moles of iodine" which was technically incorrect since H2 is a mole in itself, and the same goes with I2. Correct phrasing: One mole of Hydrogen and one mole of iodine make 2 moles of Hydrogen iodide. H2 is one molecule, and I2 is also a single molecule. It was a long time ago but maybe I was trying to get at that.
THANK YOU, YOU SAVED MY ASS! in classes i didn't understand anything from my teacher his voice makes me sleep... but with you and your sexy voice, and your easy ways to explain chemistry....i understand *-*
nice. helps me refresh my knowledge and i can prepare for my net exams easily without having to read any books and trying to understand too complicated explanations on them.
Hi, I think this whole series across coverings maths and Chemistry. However not a bad reflection on you - but youtube needs to move it's game forward and BETTER arrange it's videos so that people can display ALL their videos and in categories - the model youtube uses is to MIX other videos so everything is intermixed. However this is such a pain to do any study in a serial manner. Come On youtube create a tree layout at least and let the viewer quickly browse videos easier.
just pointing out a mistake on your video, you have 1 mol of each reactants not 2 mols of each. Those 2 mols, one from each reactant creates 2 mols of products, but great video. Shame i dont remeber it being called kinetics at college UK, think we call it enthalpy daigram.
Can you please do some videos about calculating the rate constant? also zero first and second order. And Rate laws. I love your videos but im struggling in this area in my college chem 2 class. You are a life saver!
I know you just put this up, but can you put these videos in sequential order with the rest of your chemistry section? I have no idea which video comes after this one.

Is the activation complex just when the 2 molecules are in a close enough range that the reaction is going to occur?

electrons do not rotate but they have spin, which yes it can be up or down!

I know you just put this up, but can you put these videos in sequential order with the rest of your chemistry section? I have no idea which video comes after this one.
Pr0x1mo 2 years ago 33
Probably Youtube : "khanacademy/chemistry"
What this will do is, after you click any video of the search result, you will definitely find it in "Series" or the order which it should be played.
I had the problem too, just think of doing common things uncommonly. DON'T TAKE THIS NEGATIVE
Enjoy and wish you a LATE happy new year!
patilnikh 2 years ago 2
Nah, np, a couple hours after i posted that (4 months ago) he put it into a playlist.
Pr0x1mo 2 years ago
Do you know any excellent Organic Chemistry sites.
Hey, how does the order go ?
Nice>Good > Very Good > Superb > Excellent > Masterful
Really, everyone just goes on commenting "excellent" the nice, I am new to all this.
patilnikh 2 years ago
@Pr0x1mo Go to his site, the videos are in sequential order there.

not knockin..but i found his original website...khanacademyDOTorg has them in sequential in respect to each subject
