  • what about over all performance, servers are not made to be turned on and off! does a ssd help with the overall performance....

    They both rule. Windows Server 2008 is very stable OS, lighter footprint than its desktop counterpart but just as secure, if not more secure due to the standards of running a enterprise level OS. And Linux is not the media guru or a gamers delight but it just works fine. I work with both personally and I can say they BOTH are a delight. You cannot bash Windows Server 2008 R2 unless you try it.
