They both rule. Windows Server 2008 is very stable OS, lighter footprint than its desktop counterpart but just as secure, if not more secure due to the standards of running a enterprise level OS. And Linux is not the media guru or a gamers delight but it just works fine. I work with both personally and I can say they BOTH are a delight. You cannot bash Windows Server 2008 R2 unless you try it.

what about over all performance, servers are not made to be turned on and off! does a ssd help with the overall performance....
