  • Love the harpsichord

  • i think i prefer that blonde woman than him

  • @lloydm9 sure, it is just not my thing though I give him his due as a violinist, I am just not a fan of his 'style' is all

  • 1.07 - 1.40 IT'S JUST WOAAAAAAAOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

  • Nigel Kennedy is a bit of a douche, all that showmanship is unnecessary, but God he can really, really play. I would like him more if he just let his playing speak for itself. I listen to this without watching then I can really appreciate it :)

  • @willvw1 that's funny:-) haha........"showmanship is unnecessary". how many times do you reckon he rehearsed this piece in order to play it like this? Imagine sitting still during some of those times when he was practicing this stuff. Impossible. It moves me do want to tap my feet, wave my arms like a conductor and bob my head like a punk rocker. showmanship:-) good material;-)

  • Why are people hating on Nigel kennedy??

This is personally my favorite favrorite favorite version of Four Seasons on all youtube!

  • Un Musicista Geniale!! Un brano emozionante. Grande Nigel. We wait to Italy. We wait to Genoa.

  • non ci sono parole per descrivere la bellezza di questa stagione, per me è la più bella!!! Forse perché più "violenta"... è favolosa

  • So came so nice so amazing i love it so much Love you NIGEL :) xx

  • awsome

  • Why do they all wear sunglasses ?

  • @ElDirtyFly Because it's summer lol

  • @ElDirtyFly Because in 89 you had to look like Stevie Wonder or Elton John to sell music to a mature audience!

  • @ElDirtyFly cos its summer!

  • "And Beauty is a form of Genius - is higher, indeed, than Genius, as it needs no explanation." (Oscar Wilde, Picture of Dorian Grey)

I think Kennedy combines the too: He is a Genius creating music that is pure Beauty.

  • knowing kennedy, he probably convinced the orchestra to put on sunglasses as a joke to show that they were playing summer

  • music from the west where the modern world started

  • love it...wish i could play like that!

  • wow this is even morte powerful than giardinoharmoinco version great

  • @channinghooper hehe watch the title of the concerto

  • Why does this performance have a child molester theme???

  • @channinghooper i think is for the concept of "summer"

  • Thank you very much @ 1955 Lilli !

    It's really amazing

    SMILE

    6******

  • It's horrible how many of new musicians confuse vivacity with force as well as confuse strenght with rudeness, and how they play Vivaldi as if they were in a Nascar race. Just speed, beat and nothing more. It's a heavy metal show disguised as a chamber concert. Ridiculous.

  • @hspera ......I agree 100%. See the version played by the Israeli Chamber Orchestra here on YouTube. It's much truer to Vilaldi's form. It fact it's excellent!...

  • y esos vergas que?????? quisieron imponer moda en su tiempo o que pedo???

  • cazzoooooo che spettacolo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i brividi d'emozione!! che fenomeno!

  • is nigel the soloist?

  • @IcyScythe

    of course he is!!

  • music is not about exerscise o whatever dudes,,

music is about knowing what to do with the instrument

    and music

  • as ever Kennedy BRILLIANT!but just relax ,u got control ,.exercise it.less is more .gracias.

  • love the sun glasses

  • I watched this with my mouth full open.

  • @RomanticAnimeLuver00 Want something to put in it?

  • I prefer Mr. Zukerman's interpretation...

  • un poco desafinado... pero muy muy bien!

  • respectkelly nigel kennedy was a legend of his time, still is, bigup kennedy , i see him in 1994 in london, playing hendrix, was quality, kennedys interpretation of vivaldi is one of the best ever!

  • die Frau bein 2:47 lol

  • @Lukas51000 genau lol

  • Imagine a time where there was no tv,..no internet,..no dvd'S or mp3's......just raw talent, hand crafted musical instruments and a few dedicated human beings who loved music so much they wanted the world to listen aswell..so they wrote down their notes on paper with the same passion and energy that we can enjoy today... a little piece of their soul and magical existence!.......Vivaldi and kennedy.....two greats that enrich our lives for the good...Thank you to both and also the orchestra!

  • I personally have nothing against the guy. Just don't like the sunglasses that the performers are wearing. However, if they are doing so in order to protect their eyes from the glaring lights above, it's completely understandable. In this modern times, anything that grabs the attention of the public in the field of classical music, should be commended.

  • @Taurus0423 Sunglasses and Summer , not hard to spot the connection.

  • @CHUTTS - You never heard of reactions lenses...they were very popular in the 90's

  • @Taurus0423 Obviously you've never been under infernal projectors! I can tell you it's horrible for your eyes .Nigel on the other hand is looking down mostly.

  • STUUUPID CHANGES OF CAMERA!

  • love the sunglasses

  • @DarkLady1403 How would YOU know?! I doubt you're that old. Don't forget that many composers/ virtuosos were the rebel rockstars of their day!

  • wow! what a moving, breathtaking performance. So much feeling, so much energy, such inspired videography picking up on communication between Kennedy and other members of the ensemble. This is truly the most moving immediate, new, fresh version of the Seasons that I've heard. I'm saddened by the fact that there is no information regarding the ensemble the time. Why?

  • MARAVILHOSO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • love the hair

  • Nigel made me fell in Love with the Vivaldi's four seasons not any other violin before i heard him. Well I have not heard the famous Nicolo Paganini, but i'm happy our epoch has Nigel Kennedy.

  • Nigel made me fell in Love with the Vivaldi's four seasons not any other violin before i heard him. Well I have not heard the famous Nicolo Paganini, but i'm happy our epoch has Nigel Kennedy.

  • kennedy cracks me up. so overdone. i think the asian guy is on the world poker tour

  • isnt this yanni's piece? or he remixed it? who made it first?

  • The coolest dude is at 0:19. You gotta love the close up that he gets.

  • ...the sunglasses?!? nonsense

  • So epic he they must wear sunglasses indoors.

  • I have a question about this vid: why some (or most) musicians in this concerto wear glasses (sunglasses??). Is that something to do with formalities or they just want to avoid the bright light?

  • there supposed to make it more realistic

  • @sminhle because represents the summer

  • Maravilhoso... virtuoso.... obrigada!!!

  • Kennedy only added subtleties i think Vivaldi would have excepted, especially the bridge at the end, made the song seem damn near perfect.

  • absolutely beautiful!!!

  • va como que un poco rapido paracer un allegro non molto

  • @greatdeity lo mismo pienso, pero cada musico toca las piezas tan apresurado como le guste, aun asi se escucha genial

  • excelent¡

  • @BenjaminThaBoogie I don't agree. I think the dedication and time put into this piece shows his respect to Vivaldi. And the fact that the added his own interpretation a bit, not even too much, is not a sin. It is only a sign that he feels music, and is not only able to read sheet music.

  • wonderfull

  • absolutly amazing, i love the way that i suddenly jumps from a slow to a fast pace. Kennedy is amazing

  • @TheSuiciderunner999 And Vivaldi is amazing for composing such a spooky yet so beautiful concerto!

    Vivaldi rules!!!

  • @CharlieBladeRemus definatly. its odd it is strangly powerful and yet so slow to begin with. genius

  • meraviglioso

  • To all you saying he's too fast or not right for Vivaldi, how many of these 4 pieces (12 movements) can YOU play?

  • lol summer should be scorching hot and intense

  • @doctorxdestructo

this is an italian summer as seen by vivaldi

some days are hot and dry.. other days have violent thunderstorms

  • the orchestra people are wearing sun glasses.. haha

  • nigel kennedy is prolly most famous for his rendition of the four seasons...and alot think it's the best version

  • super stvar

  • oh my that was sooo good i was totally holding my breath all the way through it, so passionate i loved it :D

  • Im agree with Acoar16, he have a good talent but not for playing vivaldi

  • Masterpiece

  • please respect him

  • in vivaldi storm (III presto) he jumps like a fkd bitch,i thin he have talent, but not for classical music.

  • Hmmm... Did you know that on the original scores it's actually written that the performer can (must?) do these things?... And I also wanted to say that what I heard from Nigel Kennedy in the Four Seasons sounds really good. If you consider that there is only one way to play classical music it's that you didn't get anything about it...

  • So what is his talent for?

  • @Acoar16 No is not like that ,is just that some musicians express their feelings towards music not only trough intrument but trough body movements also .I like an artist like that more than a stiff one who doesn't even flinch :/. Don't u think?

  • i dont know how old this vid is , but the only one NOT wearing sunglasses is Nigel Kennedy. I have no idea why, i have played violin for 20 years and see no need for sunglasses. Could be Nigel Kennedy being a *****

  • what does this have to do with the music?

  • I like that guy he is good

  • squeek

  • I know that I am being nit-picky, but I can believe that they thought that sunglasses on stage was appropriate. But I wasn't at that concert, I wouldn't be born probably for another ten years, so I couldn't pass judgement; perhaps the light were too bright.

  • @CminorMaxG

Maybe because they are playing the "Summer" part of the piece?

  • @CminorMaxG The piece is called SUMMER, maybe that they were trying to portray summer by wearing sunglasses

  • I think its great, the concept is great, and more pertinent nowadays too... all he was trying to do was to bring something truly amazing (classical music) to the masses... bravo for that!

  • It would be awellsome if the musicians wearing shades are blind :o

  • Nigel's a god. Best version ever!!!

  • i think, playing fast does not mean playin good.

  • obviously. but your comment is irrelevant. this version is fast AND good.

  • there's nothing irrelevant in berqann comment, fast does not always mean good, a person who knows how to play fast never by mean that that person is a good player.

  • @Ohgod95 Are you suggesting that NK is anything but a genius?

    Seriously, you need to stfu.

  • no, no, please don't misunderstood me, Nigel is one of my favorite violinist. I just said fast not always means good, that's it.

  • @berqann And wtf are you? Just shut up.

  • oh to be in that audience!!

  • At the part where the fast phase begins, in the early beginning, Imust admit that I really like the switch from fast and loud - to barely hearable. Gives me a freeze down the spine everytime I hear it.

  • Menos mal que era "Allegro non molto", lo que hubiera sido Presto! jajajajaja :-)

  • it's genious, with the sunglasses :D

    love it!

  • mmmm, chafa

  • The tempo is a slightly faster then the original at some point , but still AWESOME piece Bravo!

  • I don't know much about classical music or for that matter any other form of music. That said, I have heard several versions of this piece. N. Kennedy's version is my favorite. All others sound bland to me. His feels vibrant and alive. With his playing I actually feel the music.

  • The orchestra is "heckling", N. Kennedy is a very talented professional musician. Put up the Bach Double, "w/New Philharmonia", you'll see a better Kennedy performance.

  • I got it. he was born in SUMMER .... this was better than the other... like autumn or winter from Vivaldi. And he is Leo. He has a complex, he thinks that he's not enough good for Vivaldi. When he thinks he's mistaken, hits the flour. THAT'S BAD! It makes me nerves.

  • nigel is a genius. I really like his interpretation. It's wonderful, i love it! Well done Nigel!

  • this versions a bit quick for my tastes

  • I agree, this sucks.

  • Sorry you are tone deaf. Have you seen a doctor about it?

  • Sorry but his interpretation is crude, careless, and supercilious. Kthx.

  • @REYNALDO

Probably a comment that came straight from an amateur violinist. Your ignorance astounds me. But I'm sure others will believe you because "it is true" .

  • your opinion sucks

    sorry

    but is true..

    sounds fair right :P

  • they don't see?

    but they are perfect :)

  • This song is wonderful, I love her, great orchestra

  • thank you

  • first time I see a violinist of this caliber playing and walking ! Awesome performance !

  • Extraordinary force and passion. It sounds so great..!

Thank you for this great rendition of Vivaldi in our time..!!

  • This is unbelievable

  • Brilliant performance. This is real presto but slightly faster.

  • All is exaggerated so they become known world wide, megabux.

  • lol, i'm wondering why this video is attracting so many people who are willing to argue

Is it not enough to simply enjoy the music, regardless of technical caliber, and see what sort of emotions or meanings you can find in his playing and in Vivaldi's music?

  • AMEN! lol

  • totally agree, too much hate on tube. even here on this video! its not even political or whatever, sad

  • :)) thank you, show me im right

  • Why they wear sunglasses?

  • because they play Summer I :)

  • omg lol

  • So fast. I love it.

  • oh and he may be the best selling violinist of all time but that means nothing. i kno a young man named simeon kim who is so amazing on a piano that he never had to show up to the governor's school for the arts practices. he walked out on stage the night of the performance with no music and play a piece so technical and difficult it was amazing. you could barely see his hands the piece was so fast and difficult. just because they are the best selling doesnt mean they are good, just better known

  • So playing fast is synonym of good?

    I don't think so...

  • kennedy is playing rather sloppily his execution truly is off..... his tone is rather weak in comparison to his later years.... i wish people who dont play a violin or who have only played for a year or two didnt try to sound musically adept.... this is weak compared to his later performances plain and simple

  • i don't think he is playing sloppy i think he plays like that to give a heavier/deeper effect to the music because often times a violinist should play with a ragged sound like that to make the music more intense. I think it was a very diiferent interpretation from a lot of other summer recordings i have heard. Oh by the way, I've been playing for eight years so don't accuse me of trying to sound musically adept! lol

  • Woww, he plays so ferociously XD but i love the intensity of his intepretation. Sounds weird, but "Vivaldi rocks"!!!!

  • OMG!

    What a gifted musician.

    This is so beautiful..........

    MCP

  • one of the best (or the best) musical pieces i ever heard

  • This is a marvelous interpretation of summer. I like the effects lol. They set a good mood. I'd rather have him play it his own way than play it like a robot, so i actually enjoy differnece in people's playing. And also, NO ONE LIKES A NAG. You know what they say "If you have nothing nice to say, then SHUT THE F&*# UP"

  • Who else would you recommend who composes like Vivaldi ? I have'nt listened to classical music before or been a fan of it til I heard Seasons.

I am Hooked . Thank you for your help.

    Eric L.

  • Ok, well Vivaldi is one of the three "Baroque giants"; the other two are Handel and Bach. For this time of year some good music to listen to would be Handel's Messiah, or Bach's Matthew and John Passions. However, if you want some more Italian music, try some Scarlatti, Caldara or some of Handel's Italian operas.

  • NO. There are MANY other great composers of the barouqe period. Not just three. You are so dumb... Barouqe Giants.... retard.

  • Comment removed

  • Twat. I am not 10, anyway I don´t get into youtube to criticize music I will never be able to play. I bet you know about music what I know about the sex of turtles. "His sound is rough" LOL

  • do it better moron

  • Idiot. If you don't like my opinion stfu. You are probably 10 years old.

  • its powerful music he tries to drag the music as rough as it could be because this a harsh season.

  • not so good... he is just a media product... ear scratch..

  • Listen To Winter Movement one anhd then you'll know why.

  • wow you know who actually is retarded? you. Nigel Kennedy is the best selling classical violinist of all time. He is amazing. There is no one who can match his passion.

  • Ok. First off. Nigel Kennedy is a good violinist. But This video is of his younger years. And he is playing VERY Sloppy. You would realize that if you played violin at a medeokore level. While his interpretation is Adequite his execution is very off. And saying that no one can match his passion is a HUGE insult to the violinistic world. many people around that world have 10 times more passion than Nigel kennedy. there are many violinist much better than him. plz listen to them. nigel sucks.

  • Calm the fuck down, you arrogant dipshit.

  • He does not suck. Oh and btw he is the best selling classical violinist of all time. So by saying he sucks, you're basically saying that everyone who buys his cds have no musical ear, since according to you he plays scratchy and sloppy and doesn't dig for sound. And you know what's interesting? every single other comment on here, besides maybe a few, agree with ME not you about Nigel's playing. So you're calling all those people idiots for agreeing with me too. You epically fail at arguing.

  • I said he sucked in his younger years.

and while it is true he the Best selling violinist in history, not to many people buy his CD's from his younger years. And yes. i am calling everybody saying that nigel kennedy is so great in this video a idiot.

  • Clueless.

  • takes me back 2 the 90s student days painting with electric nigel x

  • OUTSTANDING !

  • wow, wonderful!!!

  • I wish Vivaldi was still alive

  • I know right!!! :)

  • He'd make more outstanding peices.
