@madcapoperator To be honest, I thought that Ditko may have been on drugs when he did Dr Strange, or at least I said it. But I understand that he's very conservative, a Randian. and thus unlikely to agree with recreational drug use.

Stan Lee is kind of like Walt Disney, he takes all the credit for everything. I attended a lecture about the Golden Books for children and I learned a lot of illustrators for Golden Books were "exiles from Disney", who left his studio because he demanded prefection in EVERYTHING.

Neil Gaiman's full of shit. Stan's insincts weren't spot on.  It was uber-cheesy and not very dramatic (actually kind of predictable) to make it someone he knew.
