at this age mozart was practicing. later mozart had more to offer yet is was essentially the same music. that is why i listened to this. its a glimmer of
his mature genius. he just couldn't speak as well but spoke pefectly nonetheless.
This man was the kind of genius there can only be one of. I love rock music but damn it, this man is MILES beyond the likes of Jimi Hendrix. I'm saying that even though I'm a huge Jimi fan.
No wonder (no pun intended) he was called a "Wunderkind" (wonder child). This is why he is one of my favorite classical composers. I am curious as to know how he reacted to people playing his pieces shortly after they premiered. I'm sure he was proud.
I had never heard this Symphony before. What is so impressive is the fact that Mozart wrote this Symphony at a very young age! This man was a total musical genius!!!
It boggles my mind to think an 8 year old could have written this. It is (quite understandably) fairly basic compared to his later symphonies, but one thing is clear: Mozart understood at a very early age how to make music sound beautiful. Even when it is simple and basic, it still has this essence of beauty. Mozart was incapable of writing anything unmusical.
He learnt music before alphabet! He was about 7 years in advance of anyone else in music, 10 years more mature compared to his age and was a genius. (Sorry for my English, I’m French.)
How could a little kid make music like this? Can anyone say reincarnation? It's just practice. But it's amazing just the same, knowing that he earned it and was gifted by God. Just an opinion, no offense to you one lifers!
Music was second nature for Mozart so people don't be surprise that he was and his one of the greatest composerof all time. Too bad his died so young.
This entire Eb symphony - if you take it as a whole and considering the age of its composer - is quite astounding. It has great symmetery, the music never bores, there are no superfluous notes or careless measures. It's a gem; it may not be as brilliant a diamond as Mozart's later symphonies and works, but a little gem in its own right nonetheless. I think you would be proud to have this work in your portfolio as a prepubescent "first symphony", if you were a composer. Ingenius!
There is little evidence on how much of this work was wolfgang's. His father did say he corrected his mistakes, but how many? We do not know for sure what percent is his, we probably wont ever know. His father made him, without leopold, there would be no Mozart.
@polymath7 I would imagine that he would also need to be lead in the right direction. He would have needed someone to teach him piano and he would have needed all of the hours he put towards studying, those are environmental factors, not genetic ones. I don't know if what markusboyd3 said is true, it might be massively false, but Mozart's success wasn't entirely based on genetics.
@SabreTooth123 My statement is totally correct. There is little evidence in what percent was his composition. What i personally believe is, leopold pointed him in the right direction. Mozart did not write the music at the age of 5, he played the music, his father wrote it down. His father would not have wrote down anything which wouldnt have put the future generations in awe. And btw, Genius is not made, its is discovered, and with his great musical environment from a very young age, it found hm
@markusboyd3 For the most part, I was agreeing with you, markusboyd3, What you say makes sense. I disagree with the 'Genius is genetic' comment. It's a combination of genetics and environmental factors. If he did not practice as much as he did, he wouldn't be considered a musical genius, this goes for most professions.
@SabreTooth123 I do find genetics fascinating, not really i do! But i will now say, that my family are not musical at all, but i took music lessons from the age of 7. It was my own will, i wasnt pushed to do it. My family know nothing about music, my parents have not influenced me in any way shape or form in music, no, that is the job of my teacher. But if what you say is true, i do hope my teacher isnt my father... I am not saying i am a genius, that would be arrogant, but have a think about it
@polymath7 It is true, and you are false. I am correct for one, leopold was his private teacher, and two, leopold was wolfgangs father, and three, leopold heavily influenced him. Genius is not genetic. Anyone has the potential of becomng a genius, its just finding it, is the hardest thing to do.
@markusboyd3 what evidence is there that his father corrected him? I disagree that his father 'made him' although his father may have helped him yes, for me his greatest works were all written after his fathers death, the requiem and Don Giovanni.
@TehAsploder Bullshit. I've heard philip glass live and he is incredible. 100 years from now philip glass will be one of the greats. It sure seems like it takes time to realize how great a composer is. People like you probably wouldn't have liked mozart in his own time because he wasn't close enough to the baroque style. lol
@TehAsploder Philip Glass is a minimalist composer, hence - not complex. Purposefully not complex. Mozart is phenomenal. Philip Glass is phenomenal. Different composers, different time periods. Imagine what utter shit composers would write if they listened to people make comments about their music or compare them to others.
this is so incredible!

As calling Mozart a god, consider Saint-saens or Mendelsohnn. They composed well before the ages of 4.

@ComposerJMA "Well before?" So they started composing at 2?
BenGabbay 1 year ago
@BenGabbay Considering the fact taht mozart started between 5 and 6, it needn't be 2 to be well before. Although Saint-Saens was composing at 3.
