Hey casette master I have a GE Stereo cassette player and I was think ing about buying some George Strait and other tapes for it but does walkmart carry thm?
The black bar is a result of a too fast or too slow set camera shutterspeed. Normally a slower shutterspeed (like 60 or 30) should work fine. You should set the MiniDV cam to "manual".
It's amazing that the betamovie cam still runns so smooth without much dropouts. The heads and the mechanic inside seem to be in a good shape. :)
I'd love to get one of these old camcorders and take it to a motorcycle rally (like Bulldog Bash or Hoggin' The Bridge). I'll just have to settle for my 2003 JVC camcorder.
I just thought, isn't it possible to hook your Sony Handycam up to the computer directly so that you can play analog video through the camera into the computer without recording it to the Digital8 tape?
I'm sure it's somehow possible to do that... Maybe vwestlife can help you, he has a camcorder that seems to be the same as your camera, and he has the manual for it.
This is a nice camera! I like it. But the fact that it is impossible to to editing on the tape, like rewinding or reviewing would really annoy me. I have an old 1984 JVC camcorder, wich is VHS-C. That one doesn't pick up light as good as your camcorder does.
Generally those old camcorders can't really focus on things that are close to the lens when zooming. So that shouldn't be a malfunction.
Great video! I have always been a fan of Beta. Working in television for many years it was nice to see how Beta SP / Beta D2 / Sony Digibeta all became the norm and the best in broadcast.
I actually have a very nice SuperBeta listed on eBay now. If anyone is interested here is the link.
Very low hours and plays super. Includes the remote.
Beta may not be DVD quality, but it sure beats the VHS machines any day! my parents still have their full size VHS camcorder from the late 80s and the quality on it is very poor....
The Zworykin Award is in honor of Dr. V.K. Zworykin who is the inventor of electronic television as we know it today back in 1923. The white see-through lens cap on your BetaMovie is to manually white balance the camcorder. You can have the battery rebuilt at any local Batteries Plus Stores
Mine is from 1983, the BMC-110. Your BMC-220 is the same as mine, but adds auto focus.
I also have a Sanyo and Toshiba clone of the Sony one.
As for your picture quality issues, I know some electrolytic caps may be bad. I haven't tested mine in about 5 years (I plan on doing a full restoration on all 3).
My BMC-110 is special to me because it belonged to our neighbors, and I have an original recording of me from 1984 recorded on that very camera.

Hello
I think that the linse cap is used to install the white balance.
You just put it on the linse and push the "white balance" button.

@punke217 Don't know. Likely not since their tapes, but maybe some do, or a gas station.

I had one of these! Sold it in the 90's for $50. I miss the unique handgrip and OPTICAL Viewfinder. Rockin!
