  • I know no families that hang up mistletoe. If someone does, it's probably something they learned from watching American sitcoms... and the Christmas tree is not a pagan remnant, silly, it's a fairly new tradition (from Germany in the 1850, like most of our Christmas tradition).

But the hidden almond is real.

  • i love Norway....!!!!

  • Beautiful country. Beautiful people. Love the kransekake. And the marzipan pigs. The fjords are something you need to see in person. I think it's time to go back and visit.

  • That song they sang is the Advent hymn Long Ago Prophets Knew

  • The only bad thing about this vid is, there is no snow. I live in Oslo, and the snow is one of the most important things, which makes the norwegian christmas the most beautiful. God i love xmas (esp in Norway) :D

  • What a nice country and people. Cheers from Canada!

  • LOVE IT!!! EVERYTHING IS DIFFERENT THERE COMPARED TO THE U.S.

  • For those asking, the song sung by the choir is called "Personent Hodie."

  • love rick.he goes to all the places i never will.

  • Yes, would please tell me the name of the song the Girl's Choir was

singing at the end of the clip. It was abosolutely amazing. They had voices

as Angels would sing. Completely breathtaking and phenominal... Also may

I add that every clip I see In relation to Norway there is always a sense

of great national pride, and for a lack of better word they seem very folkish

or very much steeped in their tradition. I'm blown away. I hope to visit

    this beautifal country someday...

  • Almost the same traditions as Sweden

  • i remember the santa lucia in my school, they did this every year, i think it was on the 13th here in denmark, and i remember i never understood was it was. we were all called down to the gym i think and it was dark, the lucia girl had REAL candles on her head, we also had christianity classes but not anymore. i started in school in 1981

  • I stayed in Drøbak in 2009 to visit my cousin Randi who lives there, so I am quite familiar with this town... Oddly enough, I met Rick Steeves on Christmas Eve at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynnwood, WA as he was doing the reading. We had a nice discussion about filming this episode :-)

  • I love it!!!!!

  • The Girls Choir are really good! :)

  • @removetube We know :D

  • @removetube you should have heard the boys choir earlier on in this special

  • @DiosanXaquerry, In England? Yeah, I like that too!

  • That performance in the old Aker church in Oslo was my absolute FAV performance in this special. Rick Steves is the European traveler I trust the most.
