  • Seattleseven. I second that emotion. He a friggin legend. He your favorite legends favorite legend.

  • Yes. That's why it says "Pete's Pointers"

  • Is this Pete maravich ?? o:

  • i thought he wanted me to count to a thousand, how would i have ever got back on defense lol

  • I think this is great.

  • Frankenstain type of approach hhahahah :))

  • silly maan *mr. slave voice (0:28)

  • I wish I seen this a couple months ago. I wouldnt expect it to make me alot better at shooting, but the whole "high arch so its easier to rebound"...that's something that you can change instantly that makes a big difference.

  • hihì_ÅnYÕñÉ_waÑnA_chÂt_wÏth_mè_Ì_féél_sÓ_løÑëlý_t0DAY♫

  • Everyone knows the music and production quality of this video is horrible; however, anyone who questions anything that Pete Maravich has to say about shooting is an absolute moron. His mustache rules. The fact that he still holds the record for NCAA scoring (at an average of 44 ppg) rules even more. A great example of a player who was ahead of his time.

  • i had the backspin when i was shooting lol and this weird kid that had never played basketball came up to me and said that if i didnt make it spin then i would make it in more often lol

  • @XxXejayG6XxX HAHA

  • yer ugly loool

  • 0:28 No homo LOOL!

  • 34 ppl shoots BRICKS

  • no pistola pete they wont like you if you miss

  • @daebousmc Blake Griffin will like you.

  • 34 PEOPLE HAVE a FRANKENSTEIN RELEASE AND CANT GET GOOD BACKSPIN!!!!!

  • @934real LOL!!

  • we could've done without the 80's porno background music...the guy's porno stache doesn't help either. lol

  • stannecyo my msn in profile! Basketball Shooting 2 (Mechanics)

  • will i grow taller if i play basketball regularly ?

  • @TheLeilisa No, you will not get taller but what alot of people think is that you have to be tall to be a great basketball player. That is totally incorrect. There is a 13 year old who is probably under 5 feet tall who schools just about everyone and can beat people who are a foot taller.

  • 0:40 how to wave just like a retard!

  • @C0dscspmd haha that was funny ass hell

  • LAMEE

  • Interesting but I am better, I am live , I am about 97%!!! I teach!!

  • i was short dead short thanks to "Helpo Growth Formula "

    im now tall

  • he looks gay when he snaps his wrist

  • the video is so new... and he doesn't look like a b'ball player

  • i dont have enough power to shot a 3pt. can anyone help me please. im still 12 years old :D

  • @dhiegocrap Don't shoot 3's, wait until you're older. Didn't you see the text in these videos? Shoot the ball your age plus 2-4 feet.

  • @dhiegocrap start knocking down 100 free throws then take a step back every day shoot a thousand from there, work out is another key start using ur legs when u shoot gives u power to get that range

  • @dhiegocrap

dont listen to them. Try to get as much power out of your legs when u jump for the three. Just keep practicing. How bad u want it?

  • @dhiegocrap

dont listen to them. Try to get as much power out of your legs when u jump for the three. Make sure to jump upward, not towards the basket, because u change situation from which u shoot. Just keep practicing. How bad u want it?

  • WOW - This is exactly the other side of the most powerful tip I was given with regards to any sport.

"Get one hand between the shooters eyes and the rim." Blocking the shooters VISION with one hand while the other "pretended" to be blocking the shot - at my level of play the offense never figured it out. Makes sense even more from a defensive perspective now.

"ONE HAND BLOCKS SHOOTERS VISION" - now i have to teach my child.

  • Again with the embedding disabled. Come on OP, fix that please.

  • I wonder whos a better shooter ands who method are better pete or Andy Enfield.who * Set the NCAA career free throw percentage record of 92.5% (431 of 466) from 1987 - 1991 * Made 941 consecutive free throws right handed * Made 172 consecutive free throws left handed * Made 96 out of 100 NBA 3 point shots * Beat Reggie Miller in a 3 point contest

    go to his site

  • stannecyo do you play basketball? you need to see this - 50inch vertical[dot]com. it s highly recommended! I m 5 7 and started dunking after 2 months of the program!

  • Genius!

  • Pistol Pete is one of the best players to ever play the game, it's a shame not to many people know that.

  • This one looked too easy shot:

    watch?v=Vy_e2-4CpBY

  • stannecyo I'm an awesome 5'6 black dude and I can easily dunk over people. Anyone can certainly do it, you just need to follow the right training program. I personally followed the 1 at "50inch vertical (dot) com" but just about any workout is fine if they work that is... lol

    Basketball Shooting 2 (Mechanics)

  • Put your hand on your chest

    2. Say who you love 4 times

    3. Put your finger on your nose

    4. Say his/her age 4 times

    5. Copy and paste this to 4 other videos

    6. Tomorrow he/she will ask you out, say he/she loves you, or kiss you on the lips or cheeck

  • thank you!!!!

  • Yea, best passer in the game, Pistol Pete Maravich

  • shaq recommended

  • Well.... thats not the only way to make a throw... Shawn Marion´s throw fuck up everything in this clip. :D

  • If you'd like to view a better and more efficient way of shooting, visit my youtube account or, better yet, visit my website, which can be found on my youtube account.

    TheShootersTouch

    SWISH expert and advisor

  • this helps me a lottttt

  • All of what he'd said is what I know already. He talks a little bit off on strength on the wrist that's why I watched this. I probably need to get my bench press up and lift heavy to actually at all shoot 3's with ease. I've read plyometrics for arms in Kelly Bagget site but it doesn't mention shooting actually.

This one guy I'm about to quote actually stalls properly:

    watch?v=jCgTNMf-BHE

  • @FuckCumInHeaven

You don't need strong arms or pecs for basketball. Shooting strength is 95% in your legs.

In fact, if you over-lift, you'll really screw up your shot. You can bench, 'n whatnot, but all in moderation. Never forgo shooting alongside weight-training ; it's highly detrimental.

  • @mattascular It depends on your form. If you do a jump shot a little bit higher than usual, you might not be able to transfer leg force quickly thereby needing the arm pec/ tricep strength.. Ex, try to jump as high as you can wile shooting on 3, hang then shoot the ball like you're shooting free throw(don't "force" the shot). You'll the difficulty increases!

  • @FuckCumInHeaven

Eh.. I don't think it depends on your form. :o I can almost pop it from high-school half-court without forcing it. I have a quick and high release, with high arc. It's off the dribble too. I think you just need to practice it. :D Weights are great (lifting's my 2nd hobby), but basketball shooting is almost purely finesse and skill.

  • @mattascular If you can shoot from half court(although it's high school) then it's strength.. On form, it's either you jump quick/low or you jump fairly beyond usual, hangs before you release, then you won't transfer force from your leg. It's on tricep:

    watch?v=XjTT5f11jhI

    watch?v=z9QyTDnVmYY

  • @FuckCumInHeaven

I know that. Hangtime on 3ball jumping is just stupid though.. low percentage. :\ (cause it's forced)

    I finished last season 73% for 3, and 85% on FT's. My FG% was in the 40's.

  • @mattascular I'm not asking your high school playing. I forgot this video:

    watch?v=WFo7h-x_m10

Again, I'm not saying you "force" the shot. The more strength in my arms it's just lighter and lighter on the shot and it's released easy if in great strength, in fact too much even when I hang.

I've posted the sitting half court shot with legs suspended on the ground, you can just try the difficulty of it and see if it's just "skill" btw..

  • some guys have this frankenstein shot lol

  • 'Man can shoot

  • Good way of explaining it

  • That was a great video.

  • does a great job explaining without over analyzing how to shoot.

One of the greatest if not the greatest shooter of all time

  • Pistol Pete would lights out Kobe or Lebron in a shooting contest. This guy is a legend, a hall of famer, and a pretty darn good communicator. Pistol Pete, we miss you

  • @HonoreT35 lol wow...

  • @SuperKobe2324

uhmmm no i dont think so.

Pete is one of the youngest players inducted into the basketball hall of fame.

He is the best ball handler in college and NBA history.

he's one of the best college players in history.

He averaged 44 points per game, 57 points per game if he had a 3 pt line.

    so yeah

  • @HonoreT35

In his prime Petey could've lights out Larry bird ;)

Watch his game against the New York Knicks where he scored 68 pts, with almost half his shots being from the 3 points line...But when he played there was NO 3 point line... Simply amazing

  • @HonoreT35 Get the fuck outta here. Kobe is a better shooter and his craft is much better

  • @MsFuckduck YOU get the fuck outta here. Pistol Pete was all about basketball, he is a WAY better shooter, don't disrespect him.

  • @grapesRawesome Please stop Pistol doesn't get up at 5 AM to do his workouts like kobe and if you think his shot is better than kobe's great, high, textbook release than you're poor

  • @grapesRawesome exactly i hate people on kobes nuts

  • @HonoreT35

It's not like LeBron and Kobe are the best shooters anyway. Steve Nash would be a better fit.

  • Check this video of LeBron /watch?v=BZmWB9t_oUM

  • whaha! lol,

  • Comment removed

  • no i dont think so.

come back when you learn english properly and stop boasting.

  • dude this guy is pistol pete.... do you even know who he is? if thats how he shoots then i am sure it works. if you like to do it some other way than good for you. these are not gay ass tips

  • ur a bellend. what the fuck

  • lol 90's videos remind me of the good ole days

  • Its gotta be from the mid-80's at the latest as Pistol Pete died in 1988

  • lol it looks like the video is old

  • Nice!!

  • shaq u should watch this you could have made 5000 points more in ya career xD

  • lol

  • lol

  • It isn't Shaq's muscles, his wrists are all hacked up. He can't bend them right. Too much damage to his wrists.

  • @Alex68Bucs

    his hands are too big

  • @Alex68Bucs 5000 more freethrows you mean?

  • mike bibby shoots exactly like this man teachs

  • Hahahahaha 0:29 "What Evaaahhh"

  • hey this has made him one of the greatest basketball players of all time... so think about it... we all can learn from this

  • I did learn from this. I just felt a little numerous at the time

  • i want shawn marion to tech me how to shoot a 3 pointer :)

  • hahahahaha good one

  • i have way different shooting style then the guy in video. my shootin style is more like mike biiby. and one thing i want to say. never learn how to shoot basketball from somebody. try to find your own way.

  • @iDance1707 yeah before I found my shot, I was playing around with a lot of different shots by nba players. I tried Dirk nowitzki, Ray Allen, Derek Fisher, Rashard Lewis, Carmelo Anthony, Kobe Bryant. But it was inconsistent. Then I used some of their shots and adjusted it to fit my preferences. Now I'm more consistent.

  • what a cheesy song

  • WRIST has to be 90 degrees when you shoot .Most important tip.

  • LOL NO SHIT ur arm shoots the ball OMG

  • Is it possible to finish your shot too high? Or rather is higher generally better?

  • Yeah, if you shoot the ball too high, then it have a higher chance of becoming an air ball. The trick is to make sure your fingers is pointed just a LITTLE above the rim after ur shot... that way, you'll have a perfect arch every time.

  • thanks

  • sort of like dipping ur hand into a cookie jar

  • Does anybody know if it's alright if I bend my arm back but still keep it straight in? I.e, my forearm and upper arm are making about a 55 degree angle vs the 90 in this one. Should I change it, or just leave it?

    Also, these videos are amazing.

  • lmao

  • 0:31 gay pose

  • since when was through spelt thru?

  • i believe thru is the american spelling while through is the canadian/british way

  • have u ever went to the mcdonald "drive thru".........i hope ur not american if u dont know....

  • "Thru" is definitely a valid word, just as "spelt" is an alternative spelling for "spelled"

  • yeah probably true, i just though it was a slang spelling used, only time ive seen it is on mcdonalds drive throughs

  • since thru became an international alternative for through smarty.

  • oh my god, these videos are amazing!

  • how do you know if you have enough arch?

  • Thats a good question,

  • a least 3 feet above the back board. 4 feet above the rim.

  • youll know it once you shoot. just try to shoot and im sure you'll know if you had enough arch or not.

  • someone gotta help me. i practiced my shot for about two years and people say i have good form but when i shoot it always hits the rim and bounces off and it doesnt go in too much.

  • Pete Maravich was a phenom in his day. These tips are from a guy hanging around in our gym draining 3's. He said, 1) Lock your elbow (Pete says freeze -- same thing) 2) Ball comes off the index and middle fingers last.

You do NOT have to square your feet up. In fact, turn your body and shoulders and feet as needed to square your ARM up, so that your arm from elbow to wrist is vertical and your arm from shoulder to elbow is aiming in the direction of the rim (not off to left or right!)

  • arch the ball more, aim up more.

maybe add more power to your shot

  • Oh, I have a pretty nice form watch my video "The perfect form 2" or "lakers take game 1" Laker fans only please..

    2-0 lakers btw.

    ps. Lakers.

  • lakers suck

  • if they suck how did they win the nba? u dumb shit

  • There's a difference between sucking and you just not liking them.

  • oh w8, i was wrong, Most LAKERS FAN suck, yeah, not the team.

  • Suck at what?

  • they suck because they don't give any respect mostly to other teams and fans. Most of them are band wagoners anyway

  • There are bandwagoners for every team...and I have no idea what you are talking about saying they don't give other teams and fans respect.

  • you have no idea? oh boy.

  • There's always gonna be people who don't give other teams respect, but I live in LA, and for the most part there's no genuine bad feelings for other teams...Look at how Utah boo'ed Derek Fisher after he left for the Lakers, or how sombody threw beer at Ron Artest.

  • You are correct but I am talking about the internet, Most LAkers fans in the net have shitty attitudes and I doubt they live in LA>

  • Yo Joe,

It happens to a bunch of players man.. they just usually correct it. Try getting under your shot more (use more legs). You probably use your thumb to add a little extra strength.

  • LOL Frankenstein approach

  • LOOOL, i found that frankenstein thing funny too.

  • this video is great...................now i am a 90 percent three point shooter............u need a lot of practice though...other kobe bryany and lebron james fan add me...............

  • Great video, but him snapping his wrist cracked me up

  • I was Just askin Sammygee1990 It helped me. I just wanted to know who ever in the hell doesn't.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • ehm yes... your comment doesn't

  • my off hand thumb flicks the ball in my shot, other players shoot like that but it causes my ball to have a funny backspin, advice anyone?

  • ya, i do it too without realising especially at the 3 point line cuz sometimes i mite not hav enough power .. best thing to do is jus practice and get your shooting form right , try shooting one handed without a guide hand .

  • The thing that I work on doing a lot is forcing my hand away from my shooting hand. An easy way to practice this is to shoot one handed underneath a hoop and then holding your off hand near the ball in a straight line. It teaches your off hand to not effect your shooting hand and the ball because your off hand is only there to stabilize the ball.

  • yea thanks i got it now....my range has shortened tho but imma stay on the weights....

  • thx pistol pete

im so much better now thx man your my master lol

  • I say this a lot on some of pistols shooting vids, he is right about the front of the rim, but in order to obtain proper arc, you need to imagine that the prongs on the bottom of the hoop are on top, and that you need to shoot OVER THEM. Therefore giving you proper arc and allowing you to hit the BACK OF THE RIM, becuase most people fall SHORT on their shots and this will help; however, it is all up to what you prefer and feel comfy with. Look at rick barry and free throws, just be comfy!!!

  • is this left handed?

  • that was incredible

  • pistol's pointers are hype

  • I learned to shoot well, at least I am not a fully developed shooter, but yes I did learn to aim for the front, I dont aim though, I just shoot without thinking haha!

  • god that was pointless

  • ive learned to look at the back of the rim not front.

  • 00:30 looks like he's giving us a tip on something else

  • very good tips

  • HEY THANKS MAN ILL TRRY THIS OUT.

  • ohh..... wow i wasn't even using my arm to shoot i was only using my wrist/finger muscles to shoot it lol

  • why is backspin so important ?, my m8 shoots and it liike so retarded looks like he pushes the ball with 2 hands, but he still puts it in from the 3pt line.. i get nice backspin nice followthrough and my form is great, just can't put it in like he can

  • The backspin helps for an easier rebound. Your mate shoots with 2 hands because he can't get the power and accuracy by shooting an efficient way. THe way he does it is very easy to block.

  • backspin changes the wall the ball reacts after hitting the rim...usually making it bounce straight up and more likely to go in when you are a bit off target.......when you see someone get a "shooter's roll" or "shooter's bounce" that is due to the backspin they put on the ball..

  • S - K - I - T - E

  • do not watch this. Most of its not correct. Pete has a very low release point but was still a great player. You wanna learn correctly? Just watch JJ Redicks shot. His shot is perfect. And btw Pete got very little backspin. VERY LITTLE but still a great shooter. Just watch JJ if you want a perfect form.

  • pistol pete bro..you say he sucks??,,he averaged 44 points per game in college before the three point line was created

  • you suck mothger fucker, u like my dick but smaller

  • lol,,, u min ur dick is small,,,,, Respect Pistol pete,,, hes way better than u,,,, u need to pratice thousand years before u can beat him,,,,,, terrific shooter, scorer and very unselfish player and good passer

  • this man is a legend

he knows what he's talking about
