Your Chinese is ok, not living in, guessing Taiwan. I did the same thing when i went to Chinese school when I was little, but I studied English instead of Spanish since I live in a Spanish speaking country. the most well known Chinese school in my hometown refused to teach us any Mandarin. Everything was in Cantonese. Only one class taught Mandarin and it was only for the principal's favorite students...who also happened to be her relatives. Milton Shoong Chinese Center haunts many people's memories!! However, the Chinese Christian school taught bother languages but no parents sent their kids there b/c they weren't Christian. Turns out...none of the students were and they're all fluent in both lol!

I'm glad I can still understand Chinese, but my story is a lot like yours.. Except minus the Spanish homework. Hard to believe I used to be top of my class. Now I can't read a lick of Chinese. But I'm starting to regret it too, so my mom's starting to speak a lot of Chinese.. hopefully it's working... I find that a lot of people are learning ABC Chinese now.
