Love playing Blackjack? What if there were truly a secret that nobody knew about with respect to the game of blackjack? And what if the very thing everybody thought were true about blackjack, was actually the exact opposite of the truth? Check us out
@VicenzoV Phil Ivy doesn't talk about theory in public because he doesn't want to give his game away, that's why. 99% of professional poker players use those terms now.
Chris Ferguson is a computer genius. The trouble with a term like "folding equity" is that it implies that its better to fold than to call. Aggressive play is rewarded in poker, however, so that implies that folding may not always have equity. That's why Chris says he doesn't know what they are talking about. Look at the play of people like Tom Dwan, who is highly successful and almost never folds.
@HolyLordGodAlmighty Like, what? You couldn't be more wrong, but you sound like you really got a clue. Impressive mate. :) Look it up though, you make no sense.
@HolyLordGodAlmighty LOL "Almost never folds" What are you talking about, everybody folds the majority of hands in cash games. If you only watch TV poker then you might believe people don't fold. TV edits out the hours of folding. And Fold equity and folding equity are the STANDARD terms everyone uses.
Yes it also appears to me that Chris Ferguson is having fun at fellow full tilt pro Phil Gordon's expense and the video was cut off to fast. It is just that Chris is so subtle is his delivery. Go to Full Tilt Poker academy and watch Chris's videos, he mentions Fold Equity several times in them.
So is the dead money the equity. The more mainstream poker gets the more compicated it gets. Chris is my fave poker player but some of these new terms and strategies are like huge unpronouncable doctor words simply meaning "the flu"
@jdjas Fold equity means the likely hood you have of getting your opponent to fold, it depends on what your opponent thinks you have. Betting draws on the flop is one of the main uses of fold equity, because you have the equity of getting your opponent to fold OR hitting your draw if he calls. Fold equity Is greatest when you have shown consistent strength in a hand.
It´s obvious that Chris understands the concept, not the term. We all who play poker use Fold Equity when taking a decision, but not all know the term... if you didn´t know that a bluff is called ´bluff´, how would you call it?
He obviously would know what folding equity is just not by that TERM. Just like as daniel negreanu says he didnt call it ROI back he is day he called he amount of buys made in each tornament. HE WOULD UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT JUST NOT THE TERM WE LABEL IT BY.

To clarify it's pointless because the poster seems to suggest that this indicates Ferguson is ignorant about this aspect of poker, but it is much more likely that he understands this concept but has not simply not used this terminology. He just says "I've never heard this term before"; it doesn't neccessarily follow that he doesn't understand the concept.

@HolyLordGodAlmighty You try to act wise but what you said made absolutely no sense at all.....
Folding equity simply is the chance someone folds.
