This is SUCH a great song, and I greatly admire Gowan (his Strange Animal cassette was the first I ever owned, when I was 12 or 13), but I admit it's always a bit of a bummer to hear the truncated version of a masterpiece. Anyone who hasn't heard the full version, check it out right here on Youtube. It's the (1990) version, and it's flat-out awesome!

I saw Larry Gowan at the Ontario Place Forum and Styx at the CNE Grandstand back in the 80s. Both venues are long gone, but these guys are still going strong. It's nice to see them playing together. Thanks for posting this; it's great.

I was never really a Styx fan I always thought they plundered Uriah Heep and Yes. I really liked Gowan back in the mid 80s and was amazed that he never caught on outside of Canada. A great writer and player. Only today did I find out he's been a member of Styx.

Can anyone find the original US, MTV version of this song. It didn't have any of the verses cut. It was out in the Summer of 1985, and was honestly better than the other 'Official Video'. This live version is brilliant, but it's missing some of the most powerful lines from Gowan's song!

What lines are you speaking of, exactly? To my knowledge, the official music video for A Criminal Mind was originally only played on MuchMusic in Canada in 1985. I know of no other version, and to my knowledge it was not on USA's MTV... unfortunately.

I LOVE HIS KEYBOARD!!! when i saw him in the summer he would spin it around and jump on it as it was spinning, play it backwards, and would even stand on top of it and take pictures of the rest of the band with an instomatic camera and throw them into the crowd!!! i caught one too!!! styx is the best live band i have ever seen

I had seen Larry in the 1980s.. he is just as great now as he was then, girl... age, is only a number, nothing will change.. Larry is one of the most talented genius in music.. also, is a great showman entertainer... I am a Canadian, and I am right proud of it... Canada rocks with musicians like Larry Gowan. This show was performed on May 25th, 2006, at Blossom Music Center in Cuyohoga Falls, Ohio. It was released on DVD the same year! It is called STYX and The Contemporary Youth Orchestra of Cleveland ~ ONE WITH EVERYTHING....Buy It!!
