  • what does the chain look like? where is the replex? do you use delay before going into the amp or after? seems like you would have to place delay after amp when using the amps distortion, but i dont think mojaves have effect loops. (unless youre using the tonebone for distortion)

  • the unique thing about the mojave amps is low input gain/lovely power tube drive and compression. which allows you to run effects and delays in front of the amp without the usual problems.

i believe vic sets up his amps to be eq'ed with the thought and intent that the player will be cranking the power section.

and his is the only amp ive ever used as a wet power amp where i could run the wet signal, post dry amp, into the front of the amp and still sound "correct".

  • so is this distortion purely the coyote, or the tonebone as well? where do you have the delay in the chain? what do you mean by running the "wet signal, post dry amp, into the front of the amp". is the delay before the amps power section, or after?

  • does yours not have the power dampening feature? i dont see a knob on the front

  • pre-power dampening serial #9

  • How much do these run for new?

  • look on mojave website for current pricing

  • Thanks, man!

  • where do you got the reverb from? love it!

  • gforce

  • can the thd ppower plate and the coyote's low wattage bring great tone at bedroom volume? This sounds pretty great, how loud was it.

  • it's my opinion that most any tube amp just doesn't sound right at bedroom volumes unless you are talking fender princeton with a old jensen for sweet clean strat tones or hollowbody jazz.

speakers need to bounce in cabs with enough volume to resound and bark for rock tone. it's a critical factor in filtering out the fizzies the right way.

  • that thd helps a lot though

  • I said you can save $1000, make that $2000. I did'nt realize these sold for $2500. I would never spend that kind of money on an amp and then use a peddle to get my disortion. Nothign against you are the tone. If it works for you and you have the dough, enjoy it.

  • ...you aren't using the pedal for its distortion, but rather for its signal boosting capabilities. It is a classic way to really, really get an amp cooking should you desire a hotter sound. Nothin wrong with it if it sounds good!

  • I think it sounds great but I dont understand guys who buy expensive single channel straight ahead vintage style tube amps and then shove a bunch of effects in front of it, totally bypassing the actual sound of the amp. It seems to be your effects creating the sound, not so much the amp. Seems to me, you could have done this with any amp and saved $1000. Cool anyway.

  • I see you are using the low sensitivity then a booster pedal with the volume only haldway whats up with that??

  • IMO better tone, flexibility and control than diming everything and having no where to go from there.

  • Congratulations. You've got killer tone with a low power amp. An amp you can crank without blowing everyone's head off. Absolutely great sound. Very impressive.

  • mentoneman!!

That sounds killer bro! What do you have your tone press set at? I'm thinking of picking one up and want to get that tone!

  • G-

i think all the dials were about 3:00 on the press. it's all about setting each pedal/gain stage for max singal to noise ratio.

The biggest difference for getting that tone versus my other clips is just turning the coyote treble volume up to 7 or more...same with peacemaker.

  • doesn't get any browner than that.

  • i give all credit towards achieving a tone like this to victor mason/mojave ampworks.

he created the amps that do it best to my ears, and showed me what i had to do to get it right.

  • my dad has a tone bone pedal, the same as you. he has a bunch of vintage pedals that he doesnt use. like a tube king from ibanez, the original tube driver, tone bone and many more. actually i think that eric johnson endorsed the tonebone. killer pedal with a killer tone! killer tone also man, usually you get that sound out of a mojave peacemaker but you got it out of your coyote. the coyote gets a killer ej tone. post some ej sounding stuff because that is what that amp sounds good on to, peace.

  • Wow! One of the best tones I've heard in a long time! Did you use only the amp or you also added the Tonebone Classic? Is that a 1x12 or 2x12 cab?

  • Are you using the THD Hot Plate as an attenuator in this clip?

  • yes hotplate on -8, effects in front of amp are:

    vht valvulator->barber tone press->tonebone classic->replex->gforce->coyote->gh30 cab

...vic gets more mojave chirp though...!

  • sounds great!

  • what are you running through? effects and all, thanks.

  • "It sounds like Eddie meets Jake E Lee meets Warren DeMartini." stevedahl

I agree but i'm gonna delete the "other" part of your comment just to keep things tidy around here.

  • You are pretty much the go-to guy for Mojave samples these days lol I appreciate it!

  • i will leave no tone stone unturned :)

just curious...after listening to these coyote clips, what core tone would you folks say it reproduces best, marshall, vox or fender?

  • marshall plexi

  • Plexi...no question,which is a surprise,considering it is a cathode biased amp

  • Holy cow Pat, you really have that amp dialed in. That sounds KILLER.

  • hey thanks man! you can definitely go there with your Peacemaker; that is the definitive classic rock amp for me.

  • Nice sound man :)
