There is a seperate NPC for a combine sniper. Alyx CAN'T use that sniper. In fact, NOBODY can use the combine sniper rifle... because only the combine sniper NPC can fire like that.

So they show Alyx going to the sniper position, but they actually use a Combine Sniper NPC for the job.

actually every npc with the same rig/set up i dont know what it's called, can use the same animations. thats why both combine, rebel and other human charcters do most things the same, like handling weapons. everyone uses the same reload animation. And i dont think that the so called combine sniper is more different from the combine soldier than the other humans in HL2.
