How do we know that these polls and election aren't totally rigged? As for me, if Obama wins, I'm betting on a continued depression/recession/whatever - and if a Republican besides Paul wins, a possible move towards WWIII started with us at its center (and at least another war in the Middle East). (Also, there could be both.) Alternatively, deadlock in Congress could limit - but not reverse - any of these trends towards war and economic meltdown.
@mtanousable world war 3? that would imply the world at war a war with Iran would involve few countries but wide consequences, two very different things. Whoever is elected it'll be too late to avoid a global depression. With European countries facing a credit downgrade and the US having alot of money tied up in them it'll be a knock of effect. Also there's fears China may be running dry, since they don't release their financial records and fiddle the ones they do we should assume the worst.

As for the depression, I was referring to the fact that only Paul's economic policies can bring us quickly out of depression by ending the Fed and liquidating the malinvestment so we can return to normal - everyone else is going to tinker with taxes - doing little - or go full-on "make it worse" interventionist.

Major General Zhang Zhaozhong, a professor from the Chinese National Defense University, said China will not hesitate to protect Iran even with a third World War. Russian officials have made similar statements about various US interventions. Is it guaranteed they will respond militarily to protect Iran? No - but it is possible, and I fear it could happen, based on their rhetoric.
@mtanousable Obama signed off on sanctions to be put on Iran, thousands of troops/some navy vessels to go to Israel, and a military base to be set up in Australia/a ship in the south Asian pacific to watch china. You don't have to worry about a Republican starting WW3.

if Ron Paul doesn't make it's inevitable that Rand Paul will take over the reigns and take it forward, timing for such a thing would be important to keep that momentum moving into future elections past 2012

@mutley2209 Provided, of course, whoever does win doesn't succeed in driving America over a cliff of no return. As for me, if Obama wins, I'm betting on a continued depression/recession/whatever - and if a Republican besides Paul wins, a possible move towards WWIII started with us at its center (and at least another war in the Middle East). (Also, there could be both.) Alternatively, deadlock in Congress could limit - but not reverse - any of these trends towards war and economic meltdown.

@mtanousable world war 3? that would imply the world at war a war with Iran would involve few countries but wide consequences, two very different things. Whoever is elected it'll be too late to avoid a global depression. With European countries facing a credit downgrade and the US having alot of money tied up in them it'll be a knock of effect. Also there's fears China may be running dry, since they don't release their financial records and fiddle the ones they do we should assume the worst.

@mutley2209 Russia and China have indicated that if we go to war with Iran, they will go to war with us - and then NATO would go to war against them. That's a lot of countries at war. As for the depression, I was referring to the fact that only Paul's economic policies can bring us quickly out of depression by ending the Fed and liquidating the malinvestment so we can return to normal - everyone else is going to tinker with taxes - doing little - or go full-on "make it worse" interventionist.

Russia want's more control over eastern Europe so they exert pressure, China want's more control over central Asia, no one's stopping them the US want's control over the Mid East, no one's stepping in

@mutley2209 I didn't say they would nuke us - what are you talking about? I said that they would go to war - probably starting as a proxy war like Vietnam, where Russian and Chinese troops are sent to support the Iranian government. It would be a conventional war - and keep in mind that I am supporting Paul's non-interventionism here. I only fear the possibility of this war occurring under Obama/other Republicans. I'm someone thinking Iran, even if they got a nuke, wouldn't use it anyway.

@mtanousable sorry to make that presumption, too many people cry 'nuke' however like i say, the backlash will come in form of a new 'iron curtain' both politically and economically which has been China's goal for a long time. To be able to exert control over other countries though economic sanctions i.e withholding loans, 'it's about the money Labowski' a move on Iran would be devastating, but shots fired between the super powers? Money today can hurt just as much as a bullet at far less cost

@mtanousable and the media being very biased against him with Bill O'Reilly being the lord of the flies where he openly attacks Paul over Iran and then openly says it would be disastrous to attack Iran, youtube it it's one of the most ridiculous pieces of hypocrisy i've seen =p I can see them both selling arms to Iran but troops just wouldn't happen. it would mean as i say a new Iron Curtain in the East which will have far reaching effects now and into the future

@mtanousable a politician like Paul can stop a war but to say you actually think that going to war with Iran would lead to some kind of all out fight among super powers is ridiculous, a war with Iran will mean alot of people dead, the region further destabilised, a major increase in radicalisation, the US borrowing itself into an abyss to fight the war and the global economy being rocked by soaring oil prices. Oil prices would spark backlash from China & Russia but politically & economically

@mutley2209 It will mean all of that. But my comments are based on what China and Russia have said. Major General Zhang Zhaozhong, a professor from the Chinese National Defense University, said China will not hesitate to protect Iran even with a third World War. Russian officials have made similar statements about various US interventions. Is it guaranteed they will respond militarily to protect Iran? No - but it is possible, and I fear it could happen, based on their rhetoric.

@mtanousable Obama signed off on sanctions to be put on Iran, thousands of troops/some navy vessels to go to Israel, and a military base to be set up in Australia/a ship in the south Asian pacific to watch china. You don't have to worry about a Republican starting WW3.
