Its a such a good song....but i gotta admit i would seriously be freaked out of i listened to this song in the midnight and i was home alone...i could not make that
@JustLocal- Seriously! Wow, I'm stunned! What is it about the sound that you dislike? This song is simplistic with beautiful harmonies and one of the greatest voices of our time.
People say that my voice is similar to Karen Carpenter.....I would love to know what you think. I write all original music.....Please click on my channel and tell me what you think of my songs! Thanks!
Karen Carpenter was the epitome of class and talent; she dressed modestly; she never felt the need to be provocative and inappropriate as some current pop and r&b stars do. THIS is music that she brings to us -- along with wholesome, feminine beauty.
@HaggardNaggar I don't know what AtlanticCross said, because his/her comments have been flagged (enough said), but my guess is some type of vitriol was spewed. How can ANYBODY bring up ANYTHING negative with or about the Carpenters?? I guess these same people would publicly flog Mr. Rogers - it's the CARPENTERS, not MegaDeath (or insert any dark sadistic band here).
Karen Carpenter is the epitome of class and talent; she is dressed modestly; she doesn't feel the need to be provocative and inappropriate as some current pop and r&b stars do. THIS is music that she brings -- along with wholesome, feminine beauty.
Richard was so instrumental. He was and is the genoius behind thier music.Karen was simply perfect. We wont see her kind again in our life time.I feel pretty lucky
If I were interested in viewing a stage full of Niggers, I would not have watched this video. It is a great pleasure to view a Nigger free environment. Beautiful Song.
@AtlanticCross1 I know a guy. He happens to be my cousin's brothers friend's (a watermelon grower) aunt's boyfriend's grandmother. She had a boyfriend back in high school (the guy) who had this funny purple hood and robe. Figured you might want them, considering your nature. The group meets Tuesdays.
@AtlanticCross1 That was an outrageous comment, and I am "dignifying" it with a response... because I believe you deserve to be berated for this nonsense... which it it at best. Why do you not stop watching Y.T., and read a book about the civil rights movement; or even more broadly, and more necessarily, about compassion: the Bible. This is what the song is about, after all. You do not even understand yourself.
We loose talent way too soon. The spotlight makes them pour their life out on stage. Managers and handlers squeesing every dime out of them. Karen is only one of hundreds in music, movies, and T.V.
The other "Live" video from the BBC 1971 here on YouTube is really quite excellent. You hear all the guys harmonizing, with live brass and strings; and Karen doing an outstanding job.
Karen Carpenter was an icon, and is still much admired to this day. It is a great pleasure to view a Nigger free environment, my admiration to the Carpenters.
This was the brother/sister duo's second smash. Some believe this to be their finest song; and in some respects it is; but, actually, I believe it to be, and what would then be ironically, "Goodbye to love". Because most of their songs were about love; the cherishing of it.
@AtlanticCross1 Hey man, you're free to have an opinion but that doesn't mean you have to voice it. Why would you bring up race? Music is a universal language and it should be enjoyed by everyone. The colour of their skin shouldn't matter.
Early on The Carpenters version of Help opened the concerts & then certainly most fans are familiar with Superstar open the concerts later.Superstar was a bear of a song to sing & in reality Karen would have rather opened the show with For all we know with a little bit of extra instrumentation in the beginning to get through the bow for the audience, but Superstar had the long instumental opening & it worked. Alot of these shows mishandled them, but Andy Williams show was pure class& a joy to do.
A lot of the heads didn't dig this stuff when it came out "light and weak' woulda been the complaint--but wholesome and groovy is what it really is--perfectly played, sung and produced.
I played this at my mother funeral reception couple years ago. So many hits of the 70's she loved and reflect my memories of being a teenage pain tint he ass. I guess it runs in the family now I have a 10 year old autistic son that has all the rebelious moods I did. This music and her voice is timeless and I hope it wil
the way she sings, "talking it over, just the two of us" the second time... something about that just does it for me. Always loved that part to the song and her fairly funky drum playing.
To Respond to an earlier comment. Randy Schmidt & I are all good as far as I'm concerned, we can be friends, I could actually add many chapters to the book (Little Girl Blue) HOWEVER, that's really the only area we differ, if I didn't get blessings from RC to do a book I wouldn't. That's just me. We all share the Love for Karen, in different ways, some as fans, some as friends, & some as family & I would like to believe Randy does as well. Little Girl Blue is 100% accurate no question about it!
Very nice song, first heard it in a hotel the other day, when the radio turned on by itself. Then there was a piece of chocolate on my bed and I started freaking out.I had to call the manager, a black dude that looks like Samuel Jackson.
So sad that this beautiful, bright song is only remembered in that shitty movie "1408" and not on its own merits. That's why it's going to be a highlight of my movie in the making.

You could hear and understand every lyric, they used more than four different sentences within one song, and their mixed down harmonies created an other-worldly ear-mosphere. Bow down Bieber!

I remember when this album came out - Karen Carpenter took the world by storm. She had such an incredible and musically pure voice. I look at the so-called artists today, and there is no comparison. What a talent.
@MsLadyshines Is that true? Im your daughters age and thats heartbreaking...Im so sorry. The Carpenters are so passe im impressed your daughter was a fan. God Bless you.

Anyone know if they wrote this song? The theme is incredibly ironic, given the state of Karen Carpenter's marriage right up until the day she died.

I remember when this album came out - Karen Carpenter took the world by storm. She had such an incredible and musically pure voice. I look at the so-called artists today, and there is no comparison. What a talent.
