I get lessons at OBU and i was told to talk to you... I heard you say your name and i was like that couldn't be him... And it was! Crazy meeting you by random youtube videos.
The idea of teaching by using YouTube is wonderful! However, the contents here, in my opinion, are much less than helpful: prioritizing sticking (which is in fact highly subjective) instead of accuracy (which isn't) doesn't help musicianship. If a person must sight-read, they nonetheless have the option of *studying* the notes before they begin flailing. Melodic shape, dynamics, accents, dampening, all in the MIND before the hands. And it's Goldenberg, not Goldberg. Good luck though. A
Rick Diamond, this is Jamal old Trombone/Keyboard player for Nu Fusion..sparked up some old memories watching you. I tell everyone about that true perfect pitch you got, I know many imitators that really dont have it and say they do. I make sure everyone know I have not only met but was instructed by somebody who truly has it and that is you, thanks for everything!
Nice!! Thanx for breaking it down so clearly. GREAT pointers. This vid would be even doper with a split screen (2 cam close-up shot) so that you can see the music a lil better as you're explaining. (just a suggestion) :>)
You are exactly right on those pointers. This was actually filmed for another purpose back in 1999, before the wonderful days of YouTube. Hope I can dig up some more...I'll upload if I can find them. Thanks for watching!
