Yep Carbunkle is correct he says something like sleep or take a rest the screen goes black and its time to reset and start over from your save..... BOOOOO ...Thats if u say yes though of course

A friend told me that he said yes, so his whole data got erased and had to start from the beginning. Don't really believe that programmers back then could so cruel, but does anyone think that's possible?

As I recall, he says something about "take a rest", like the King of Tantagel says when you save your game, and the screen glows bright red. At that point you have to reset the game, but your data doesn't get erased. Think of it as "the bad ending".

Yep, called Dragon Quest 1 in japan. The whole series was call DQ in japan, but only the eighth one forward are called that in English-speaking countries.

I know that these games are supposed to be classic, and really great, but I don't think I could play them now. I never have played a DQ game, and I don't think this simple game would hold my interest. Of course, the modern Dragon Quest games are a different story. I may pick up DQ VIII one day.
