To the Anti-Suzuki fools: firstly, the conservative Harper government is NOT interested in saving energy, so Suzuki would not be their pawn....also, I'd hope that a man 75 yrs old with a good job has saved/ invested his earnings over a long life and has a nice home which is not unusual, he can still be for the planet and have common sense, unlike many of the un-educated baffoons below who actually think that humans are not ruining the planet on a daily basis.... very sad. It's widely accepted in the scientific community with a lot of literature supporting it. I want to point out one tip here is incorrect. Dimming Lights does not reduce energy consumption. A Dimmer is a variable Resistor that a user controls. IF a 100 watt light bulb is has a dimmer applying a setting having the bulb half as bright as full brightness then what you are doing is heating a resistor in a Wall.

The bulb and dimmer still consume 100 watts of electricity. A variable resistor only adjusts the sine wave generated by electrically current.

IF you are using a dimmer you are using a resistor no matter what. You cannot dim a light or control the speed of an electrical motor without resistance. Resistance allows the Sine wave that power makes 30 to 35 times per second to be adjusted to create the effect of dimming. The Current is demanded no matter how you alter that Sine Wave of 60 to 70 HZ.

Again on this Suzuki gets it totally wrong probably reading a script that was wrote by people ignorant of basic electric theory.

Dimmers are resisters and all you do is take the same load and apply it to resistor.

Mr Suzuki is wrong in trying to have Germany as a model for us to follow in regards to electric generation . Fact is Germany has 65 percent of electric power generated by Coal, Oil and Natural Gas. Canada has 65 percent produced with falling water which does not admit CO2. a further 20 percent Nuclear in Canada . FACTS
