What a wonderful video Laura, I love your zest for life. I was diagnosed with hodgkins 30 years ago when I was in lower sixth and after chemo and radio have been in remission since.. You remind me of myself way back then. You,ve definately got the right attitude. Enjoy every minute you can.
@blythe50 ah that's such good news, i hope she recovers quickly from the virus so you can enjoy the rest of the festive season, bring on the new year with health and happiness!
it is the christmas season now and my daughter is in the hospital with lymh nodes and nodules swollen very larger and they already found ebv so we are on pins and needles waiting for the tests to come back and let us know if she has hodgkins, she is really scared she is 31yo , im starting to worry so i listened to your story and i love the way you are happy and upbeat. thank you for it. and the best of luck to you.
@blythe50 I really hope that you get an answer before Christmas. Obviously you don't want to hear that it is lymphoma but believe me once you know what the problem is, a huge weight feels lifted whether it's good new or not because then you can crack on to start treating it without living in uncertainty. Hope your daughter isn't feeling too unwell at the moment and if you have any questions let me know. Please keep in touch, wishing you as good a christmas as possible in this difficult time x
I had Hodgkin's when I was seven years old. I am 49 now. My Hodgkin's was stage 3b. I had lots of radiation and lots of chemotherapy. You have a very positive attitude Laura. You have a great zest for life. I think you will be a very happy person. All the best from Canada, cheers.
@sparkman555 That's such great news to hear that you have been cancer free for so many years now, thank you for sharing your story, and thanks for your kind support :)
I was diagnosed with stage 3BE in january. now after 6 months of BEACOPP chemo i am in complete remission :) .... you are very strong young lady, hope you are ok now :)
@grovestballer Ah so glad to hear that you are all better now, must be a great feeling :D I'm going to make a new video soon as an update but sadly my Hodgkin's decided to spread and mutate into non-hodgkins so still got a fair way to go with treatment but keeping positive!! Hope you're recovering well and don't have any long term side affects from the chemo :) congratulations!
@laughingoutloudlaura thank you!:) yes, it's great feeling :D i hope you will have the same feeling as soon as possible :) stay positive and strong. you can cure it. I have some side effects, but recovering is very fast :)...waiting for new video and wishing you the best! ;)
This video was like watching a british girl version of myself. I was a week away from going to Johns Hopkins University here in the US to study Biomedical Engineering when I got diagnosed with Stage 2A hodgkin's lymphoma. I'm into my 3rd month of ABVD right now, hopefully only another 2-3 months to go. Anyways, best of luck with the rest of your life XD
@ecartman9270 Wow, that's really strange! Maybe cancer likes to grow in people who know a little more about the biology behind it....I find having that little bit of extra knowledge from the degree can be quite helpful in picturing what's going on inside me, although I only want to know the good aspects of it like tumour shrinkage :P I hope you're tolerating the ABVD well, you'll find that the final few go really quickly as you get into the routine of going every few weeks. Best of luck!!
Hi, I hope you are much better now. I was recently diagnosed with hodgkin ..stage 2b. abbout to go through chemo and i'm terrified. could you please tell me..if the PICC line hurts? when they put it in, cleaning it etc..does it hurt? is it uncomfortable once its in? do you recommend that I should get it too? sry for all the questions...but pls do reply.. xoxo
@zste241 Hi there. I can honestly say that a PICC line is such a good idea. The procedure is just like a big injection but they will give you a local anaesthetic and maybe gas and air too. It really doesn't hurt anymore than an injection. It takes about a week to heal so might feel a bit tender and bruised but it's worth it in the long run as chemo drugs can really damage delicate arm veins. You will need to get it flushed once a week with saline but it's definitely worth it! Good luck x
@zste241 I am a CNA and have observed several PICC line "insertions".. they do numb the injection site and the majority of the patients I have seen say they do not feel a thing after that beyond a little pressure. They make it seem like a much bigger deal because it must be extremely sterile procedure because of infection control. Some people keep them in a short while and others keep them in (but flushed out) longer.
That was very inspirational..my mum watched it too and we both think its so good you're putting this up for everyone to see and be made aware...love you....dina x
Thanks for sharing. I love your sense of humor!
