  • This is Mingus at his very best! GO MAN GO!

  • This is hot

  • ANGRY JAZZ!!!

  • Why is this in only 240p?!?!?

  • Forget modern rap music...the intro to this song is the dirtiest piece of music i've ever heard.

  • Is there a list of all the guys playing there please ?

  • this is way better than drugs. not saying that i take any , just stating an oppinion.

  • @ALTRockPresident so how do you know which is better? I happen to know, by experience, that both are great in their own way and shouldn't be compared, but much rather combined ;)

  • @Ands2990 combining it ? pass. i'll stick to just listening to this.

  • Love that Bari range, that solo was just sexy.

  • and THAT is why i love playing bari, sexiest instrument alive

  • @mattscheepers1703 the trumpet you hear is a TROMBONE in usage of a so called PLUNGER

  • The title is a bit misleading ... Mingus had been dead for 14 years by 1993.

  • @Superphilipp HAHAHAHA LOL

  • and this is how my Thursday morning begins..

  • I just love how you can hear the audience's comments & grunts in the background

  • playing bari like a MF boss.

  • juan tizol has 45 accounts

  • @mattscheepers1703 That sounds like a t-boner to me...

  • 4:27 reminds me of Janis Joplins voice

  • Looks like 45 people are on crack.

  • dope ass hell

  • Wow, now that was smooth.

  • To the people that have to sit through the 99.9 FM Virgin Radio Advertisement.

I don't care how many times the annoying lady repeats "99.9 Virgin radio Toronto's #1 Hit music station" I will NEVER listen to your shitty playlist over jazz!

  • wow <3<3

  • 0:20 UUHHH!!!

  • im playing this song in my jazz band. boom.

  • Nice :)

    abeldanger(dot)net

  • Does anybody know how Cuber makes that sound with his Baritone sax at 2:46? It's like he's squeezing the life out of the saxophone.

  • brilliant song!

  • My jazz band recent preformed this and i will never get the sax part out of my head (not that i would wanna)

  • @Ctmonsta recently

  • we passed out this piece in jazz rehearsal recently and I got the set part woah it's fast. I had to listen to the recording so many times to get the timing

  • who is playing trumpet?

  • Uh Huh!!!

  • was charles mingus not playing in this? im confused, since it was recorded in 1993

  • @blacklung7 Mingus died in '79, man.

  • @bazbee this tune is actually titled "Moanin'" as well. But they are quite different between the chaotic composition skills of Mingus and the cool groove of Bobby Timmons.

  • this is destruction :D

    ...great

  • 0:08, Hun Hun !

  • Mingus, minugs, minugs, mingus, mingus!

  • every thing from the chatter of the band to that moment where it sounds like complete chaos yet so organized. thee guys are masters at plalying music. love him love john coltran. none better

  • Does anybody know the notes for that ending run?

  • this is actually a tribute band to charles mingus.

  • LOVE IT!!! JUST LOVE IT !!!

    -DebbSaxx

  • O.O ... whoa

Now that's what I call REAL jazz. Crazy stuff man :)

  • The beginning is the best part by far. Love the growling altisimo and when he lays into that low B-flat. Baritone sax= coolest and most baddass sounding instrument ever.

  • WHOA JIMMY KNEPPER!!! 6:37 . Speak.

  • Comment removed

  • the break around 2:00 is so clean!!! wow. also the beginning is just the tits. wanna listen over and over and over.

  • This isnt charles mingus?

  • Where can i get the sheet music for this?

  • @gr4mp505 I have the transcribed bari solo if that's what you are looking for.

  • ¿Como hay 45 pajeros que ponen "no me gusta"? ¿Están sordos o que les pasa?

    ¡ESTO ES BUENÍSIMO!

  • imagine walking into an asylum playing this!

  • This is the peak of music and sound itself, nothing can get better.

  • this here makes you just die over Jazz, i love it!

  • My greatuncle would always turn this one waaaaaay up and we would dance for him while he kept time with his rocker and smoke rings... aahh JAZZ!!!!!

  • Love this here! 5★ track

  • sexiest music ever

  • Magic!!

  • genius. nuff said.

  • The trumpet that starts at 5:47 is unlike any sound I've ever heard in my life, and it does something crazy to my body.... must... dance....

  • @mattscheepers1703 The trumpet solo is the one before 5:47. It's a trombone makin those noises. Takes nothing away from the amazing playing, just wanted to clarify so y'all can dance harder!

  • @mylespotters My mistake! Still an absolutely soul-piercing sound. Gets the foot tapping like nothing else.

  • @mattscheepers1703 I agree with you!

  • @mattscheepers1703 That's because it's a trombone (played with a plunger mute).

  • @trombonemunroe i think its a trumpet with a harmon mute...

  • @folsomjazz I'm a trombone player who's played with trumpet players and flugelhorn players for 35+ years, and I'm telling you, I know a tenor trombone with a plunger mute when I hear it. I'm sorry to say you're mistaken....

  • @mattscheepers1703 It sounds like a muted Trombone :O

  • @mattscheepers1703 no doubt. I couldnt agree more to that

  • @mattscheepers1703 it's a trombone with a plunger mute and the sound of this player :)

  • @mattscheepers1703

    That's a trombone, not a trumpet

  • @mertymert67 I thought so! I saw that top comment and I was like, "Really? Trumpet? Well, I gues the world agrees with him." I WAS RIGHT!

  • @mattscheepers1703 they used a plunger

  • wow....genius

  • @yayayoya Mingus is worthy of his own genre...

  • who played the trumpet in this track?

    is mind blowin

  • @melbelu Ryan Kisor

  • That music is so ragin ..it's running all over the place..superb!

  • JAZZ

  • whatever happened to actual good music these days?

  • this kind of things dont need a comment.. oops.. shit!!

  • talent is different from hype, fame, money and all that shit.mr charles mingus was always on top of his game.@chelseafc6528 your pants are wet because you did not want to leave this and go to the loo.i would'nt.but then i'm not bursting i'm digging the work of a true master.an antidote to boredom that is called music today.

  • what kind of jazz is this? I mean, subgenre or type of jazz, I need to know, it is superb.

  • @yayayoya most would say hard bop. but mingus fashioned his own style which included more collective improvisation (from the new orleans style) combined with edginess of 50s R&B and blues. in the end though, just calling it jazz is good enough, no one will ever tell you you're wrong.

  • Why are my pants wet?

  • Genius. Timeless.

  • ONE MORE TIME!

  • Who has this arrangement? Send me details. I need this arrangement.

  • Thi sain't no "Moanin'"

  • from all comments in youtube saying " how can someone dislike that" or this kind of shit, this is the only song where i reaaaaly dont get how a dislike is possible. I swear.

  • i dont need nobody to thumb up i just need to share that i love it soooooooooooo bad

  • i cant wait to get this music once i get to school

  • @firefox825 yeah me too.

  • finally some recognition for the bari.

  • god i love that bari!!!!!!

  • Ronnie Cuber is a Bari GOD!

  • is that a trumpet at 6:38 ???

if, so what mute is it???

  • @folsomjazz i think it's a trombone.

  • @folsomjazz trombone with a straight mute while growling. Listen to Wycliffe Gordon, he does that a lot.

  • this song is saxy oh im so punny

  • sweetness

  • FANTASTICO!

  • Quagmire from Family Guy guy brought me here too, rockermetalhead1200

  • AYYYYYY QUE ROLA, I LOVE JAZZZ

  • I miss Mingus but I fear the man, because I was white and he hate white noise, I fear the man because he was writing some black notes that I didn't understand, I miss Mingus cause he was the man that made me understand the blacks notes on the stand. I love Mingus because he was the man that make the music on the stand.

  • All I can say is.....WoW !!

  • Something amazing just happened. o_0

  • Looking at the ratings of this video, it's safe to assume that at least 45 idiots listened to this song.

  • I have listened to this song for literally 6 hours as I arrange it for a jazz band combo. It still isn't old and I finally see that it is the exact opposite of a musical circle jerk, so well structured!

  • semplicemente fantaaastiiicoooooo!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't know if I should say this but Quagmire from Family Guy brought me here.

  • @rockermetalhead1200 Me too lol. I wanted to watch the whole thing :P

  • From now on I will only have sex to the sound of this.

  • I love the beginning after the first part of the bari solo:

    "Uh huh?"

  • orgasmo sonoro

  • pwaaaaAhda FART....dadou di dou FART....pwaaaaAhda FART....dadou didouda FART....pwaaadada....pwadadadada....pwaouadadada...............oops sorry, someone heard me?

  • For anyone else who's favorite part is 4:43, like this so you can just go back to this part over and over again. I love the transition here. Mind blowing.

  • the one and only reason i play the baritone sexiphone

  • chuck norris frowns apon 45 people

  • i played this on bari in college and it was an out of body experience. thanks for posting

  • The first "uh huh" is the most natural reaction to hearing the sex that is that sax.

  • What happened to music like this? Seriously. "Music Artist" of today need to look back and learn their shit before they put out this "music" that is popular today. I don't care if they look back to Mozart, but WE deserve much better Music instead of the popular "Music" of today...

  • @crxerxis it exists just a case of looking for it, ive heard some bands that are just wow, and theyve been modern bands

  • @crxerxis This recording was made in the 21st century! That bari solo in the beginning is modern.

  • @crxerxis well i agree that music today is mostly shit but i dont think we really deserve better music, people nowadays are only interested in the shallow aspects of music thats how a whole genre emerged out of drums and bass.

  • @fiftieslover True.. And I don't think people should even complain, they can just go on the internet and get music from other places and times.

Back then you only had access to select types of music based on the local musicians and local record stores, nowadays you can listen to whatever you want and people complain just because the music they like isn't popular, and the music that's popular sounds shitty.

  • 45 people have never had an eargasm.

  • This is powerful stuff

  • too much going on at once!

  • How come you can dislike this wonderful arrangement?

  • This swings so hard!!! Ugh soo killin

  • I have this song on my comp under Reincarnation of a lovebird.....

    What's the song called ??

  • Ronnie Cuber needs to beat 45 people to death with his bari sax.

  • me encantaria saber que escuchan los 45 que pusieron no me gusta.

    Carlitos, Genio de la vida!!!!!

  • realized why its called Moanin' - I literally made my O face and said "Oh holy shit" at 4:27. SO SEXY

  • That bari makes me happy

  • that bari is the sexiest thing ive ever heard

  • i cannot stop listening to this song..

  • Awwwwsome!

  • A real foot tapper. Great stuff.

    Alan.

  • that bari gave me eargasms

  • brutal!!!!

  • Man!

  • nice

  • nice

  • brillance and thats it

  • I have listened/seen Ronnie C in Stockholm, but here he plays much better, than in Sthlm

  • Omg soooooo killin

  • I don't really get what people are saying about the low notes of the baritone saxophone being "smooth." To me they have a very raw and powerful sound. They contain a strong and expressive "punch" but definitely not smooth to my ears. We all hear music differently I guess.

  • @violadude0987 What's smooth about the low notes is his transition from high to low as fast he does, especially 6:50 and onward. But that's a very elementary skill that a bari sax player learns, so even that doesn't account for much. I agree with you more or less, just throwing you some insight on the matter.

  • @drunkenxrage Ohh! So it is the transition between the notes that they are describing is smooth, not the actually quality of the low note itself. Alright, that makes more sense. Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • Yep (: Also, some artists have problems putting what they're feeling or thinking into a solo or the instrument at all. This guy smoothly conveys the raw "moanin'" that you pointed out. In that respect I gotta say it's very smooth! Of course Mingus always demanded that when he led a band.

  • Omg! So many layers of music going on at once. This is amazing.

  • Happiness is playing Bari Sax and learning that you get to play this song. Orgasmic is playing this song for a live audience.

  • this song is like a foot and a ear orgasm *drooling*

  • Comment removed

  • This is why I love playing Bari Sax. Just belting out those low notes like no other and soundin' like a smooth goose on roids.

  • this has got to be my favorite version ive heard of this chart, only because of that amazing bari solo at the begining. it just sets the mood for the rest of the song soo much better!

  • 240p never sounded so sexy before now....

  • @NJP695 it sounds like 1080p

  • This is quite amazing played straight - no overdubs or edits. It takes me back to my big band studio recording days.

Such a shame it's mistitled because this version of 'Nostalgia in Times Square' deserves top spot on Youtube. Moanin' was a different animal by Bobby Timmons.
