There may not be a second season, but there is always the possibility of a reboot. Kinda like they did with Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood: another anime series that more closely follows the manga.

@GatherumSPD The original FMA anime was vastly different from the FMA manga, though, which is why Brotherhood was possible, because it's faithful to the manga. From what I can tell, Claymore's anime is fairly faithful to the manga story line already.

@DevilChildVorn Only the first twenty-three episodes. What I think they could do is pick it up again where episode 23 left off. Or, they could redo it entirely, depending on how much the story differs from the manga throughout. It wouldn't be hard, with the right budget, time, and motivation.

The anime stays consistant with the manga up until episode twenty four, that's when it takes off in an entirely new direction. In the manga, Claire never fought Priscilla. Instead of rushing off to fight her, Jean sacrifices herself to bring Claire back to her human form after killing Rigardo (I think that's his name). Then it goes into a seven year timeskip. Other things happen, but I'm not spoiling anything mroe here.

The manga is always good, for any series originated from a manga. The animation directors always ruin everything, especially plot direction, as mentioned by a few. I mean, just look what happened to Full Moon. What a disaster. And Fruits Basket... oh man I don't even wanna say. Anyways, yeah. "Spice and Wolf" and "Ouran High School Host Club" and "Sergeant Keroro" and "DNAngel" were the only anime versions of all the manga I have read that were actually good.

Hey in my own defense, I didn't say Claymore the Animation was bad, just the story isn't as good as the manga. Then again, it has been proven that if someone drags a series out too long on TV it goes to hell.

The animation isn't as good as the manga in this case.  Well, it would have been better if they followed the story a little closer instead of going off on their own path with it. To sum it up, they ended the Animation prematurely and made some bad decisions on plot direction. The manga author, while he has made some not too exciting scenes in his story, has for the most part done a better job to keep the audience interested.

It's over at 26. The anime simply cuts out the side-stories that are included in the manga and focuses on the main storyline.
