  • @TheRangerkc Agreed.

  • hey! where tha heck is the c/e?

  • The c/e?

  • Awesome! Now I can't wait to go to airshows this summer to see these!

  • Yea I bet!! They're great!! Thanks!!

  • If you think the Blackhawk sounded neat taking off, you should listen to a UH-1 Huey start up and takeoff. Nothing beats the sound of a Huey. The Blackhawk sound pales in comparison. The Huey is distinctive while the Blackhawk sounds like practically any other helicopter. Though the only US military units to still use the Huey are the Marines (& perhaps a few National Guard units). Still really neat video aside from the interference given by your friends, of course. Cheers! :-)

  • Thanks!! Yea, those Hueys would be great to see start up and take off. The distinctive "Thump" of those blades are great. Thanks again!!

  • My pleasure! My father flew three variants of the Hueys during his military career. He started out with UH-1D Huey gunships before transitioning quickly thereafter to the AH-1 Huey Cobras in Vietnam & ended with the UH-1H Huey in the Reserves so, naturally, I have a fond spot in my heart for the Huey. The Blackhawks are neat replacements & can hold/lift more cargo & personnel, but the Huey will always have the distinction of being the foundation for the Army Aviation Branch.

  • The Air Force still operates Hueys on a daily basis.

  • I hadn't realized that the Air Force operated helos (I thought that was the sole purview of the Army & Marines), but upon further research, you are quite correct. However, I think it's a bit strange that with the exception of a few small VIP aircraft, the Army is devoid of fixed-wing aircraft & only has helos while the rest of the US armed forces can have both.

  • Eh.. the army doesn't really need fixed wing aircraft. The only reason the Navy has fixed wing (to keep it simple without typing an entire essay) is fleet defense and limited CAS. The Marines use their fixed wing aircraft like artillery (again, CAS). The Army has no real need for fixed wing aircraft. What could they possibly use fw a/cs for that the Air Force doesn't already do for them?

  • @tchapman1977 air=air vehicles i did not know the blackhawk was a car
