Caught this tune from Shawn Colvin on her live 88 album many years ago, which was sooo beautiful, and which is unfortrunately out of print, but this version from AKUS is crazy off the charts amazing and thankfully here on YouTube!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for putting this on here! This is my fav fast song they do! I've been an AKUS fan since 1990 when I first heard her on the local Bluegrass radio show. Met them in 2000, spent the day hangin out with Dan (this was right before the O brother explosion)..they are & always will be my fav group! "If there were no music, I would not get through..." truer words were never spoken. <3
Her title of youngest person ever to be inducted into the CM Hall of Fame was well deserved. Not sure when Colvin recorded it. Alison's was in 92. Was suprised to know that Colvin wrote it tho.
@sillydreamer64 Shawn recorded it in 1992 as well. I can't believe Alison was only 21 when inducted, but I believe it was to the Opry. Don't think she's a Hall of Famer yet...but she should be!
@tasfan92 We started listenin to her in like 92. Heard her sing on a Jerry Douglas CD and we were hooked. We got to meet her quite a few times when she played in Dallas. Before the world FINALLY discovered her. Have ole pics and she looks soooo diff. She is a really funny gal too. have you ever seen AKUS Live?? Pure perfection!
@Shrimpkin74 You should search "Shawn Colvin and Alison Krauss" and listen to the wonderful things they've done together and see the respect they have for each other. Alison didn't win 27 grammies (the most by any woman in history) by appealing only to hillbillies. You need to expand your little point of view.
@terrybeaton@Shrimpkin74 . Terry, I'm glad you like the video. Shrimpkin, I do have to say that Shawn's version of this song helped me realize what a great vocalist she is as well. but great minds do not always think alike - you don't have to agree on this. thanks for stopping by, have a great day.
thank you ao much for posting this i remember vividly hearing this version for the first time in a friend's car; i made her play it over and over several times. the best!! thanks again

It's crud! Shawn Colvin's is so much better than this... I was waiting for the General Lee to drive on screen!

@Shrimpkin74 Personally I think her voice is too pure to evoke Hazzard-ish images. to each their own. thanks for viewing & have a nice day. :)

Alison recorded this first and sorry, but it blows Colvins away. Whenyou reach the pearly gates It'll be Alisons voice to welcome you in. =)

@sillydreamer64 I totally agree about Alison's voice being heavenly! Glad you like it...but Shawn's was indeed first :)

Totally different from Shawn's. Virtually a different song. Refreshing change.

@genesisisok I agree...I take it you prefer Alison's version? I love them both.

@tasfan92 Both great - hard to choose. Alison's totally different (e.g. Little help from my friends by The Beatles and Joe Cocker)
