I'm not goint to comment on the mambo except for it's extremely square. You shouldn't play a mambo if you don't have a rythm section. A drum set doesn't make up for the multiple drums used in mambo, salsa, samba, and other latin music. A tuba does not make up for a string bass. You have no saxapohone or trombones?
Fix your trumpets first. Tell them to buy a tuner, practice in a section and get the fuck out of the stands. They aren't listening to the band either.
