The zombies and hellhounds were created accidently when he first created the teleporter and it went faulty and anyone who went through the teleporter came back "Zombified."So Richtofen took his daughter, Samantha's dog and put it through the teleporter. However when the dog came back he had inadvertently created the first hellhound.
