Not all organizing solutions are the same for everyone. A shoe rack would look tacky on this porch and there isn't room and this person doesn't want attention drawn to the shoes. This basket has been used for 4 years for every shoe from hiking boots to snow boots, running shoes and everyday shoes have been put in here and it is still a good basket. I think it depends on how sturdy of a basket you use.

I can't believe just putting some shoes in a basket that your family wears would ruin the basket. LOL!

How to ruin a basket...LOL! My family would go through a basket a week if we all put our shoes in them! You're thinking though. I need a really great idea on how to hang our shoes on the side of my big, old, metal desk! It sits right in front of our sliding glass doors, just enough for you to enter and exit through. For now, I have a rug down in front of the door to hold all of our shoes (we are 4, sometimes 5 people here at one time). HELP PLEASE? ♥Dig♥
