I'm working as a fire man as well in Budapest(hungary) and worked in Ny. for 2 years I started working as a fireman 25year ago and i love my job and i can oly say this is the best job thet I could have chossen. about this movi it is a realy great movie. I encourige (sorry for the spelling) everyone to chosse this job. (1x mor sorry for spelling)
bruce hornsby says that ron howard picked him to compose a song ("set me in motion") for the movie, and then he happened to stumble upon "the show goes on" and he decided to use it in the movie

The first time I tested, I scored a 79% on the written, passed the CPAT test but missed an interview. The last time I test, I scored an 86%, smoked the CPAT and earned a interview and a second interview but didnt get hired. The last four years I have had 4 second round interviews without getting hired. It is not who is the commited but who is related to you. Just sucks.....
Its a movie, not a training film... Relax.... Enjoy the movie,,, It was not that long ago that wearing scba was not common practise.. Not a good thing, but true.... Btw... you can't tell me that all that insane tatics still don't go on... just watch youtube and firefighters.. WE still make mistakes...
Second thing is, they go inside a burning building without the appropriate equipment! the dont use any breathing protection at all!! Within a burning building there are so many toxic gases that u will also sooner or later die!!
so to conclude, this film is no film about real fire fighting.
part2: if u now open a door or a window the fire gets new oxygen and than, well look at the vids.. A BIG fireball shoots out of the door. this is why u always crawl inside a building. keep ure body as colse to the ground as possible. U dont kick open a door and look insde! if u do that u are DEAD!

one its a movie. two your theroys are right but your concept is wrong. you dont HAVE to crawl into buildings and stay low. plus back in the 90's. firefighting WAS like that

my dad was a firemen for 21 years, he had to retire early b/c of some problems in the Dept.
but i hope to become a Chicago Firemen someday

Yes that is Hollywood - but it is a great movie.
And one more thing in the movie is UNREAL....that there are so much good-looking firemen together ;-)
Not in real life - not here in Germany. And the outfits of American firefighter looks so much beter as in Germany.More sexy ;-)
