Now, make no mistake, it was a huge explosion but fortunately there are no deaths reported so far despite the size of it, only injured and nobody seriously injured as far as I know at the moment.

It was mostly a material loss incident albeit a big one.

I want to clear that it just looked like a smaller version of a nuclear explosion because of the humongous mushroom shaped fire and smoke cloud, this is to be expected of a refinery explosion but not that it was an actual one, an actual nuclear explosion is larger and of course radioactive.

I want to clear even further that there are also lots of rumors about the cause of the incident like the ones I mentioned but these are only rumors, the authorities have stated that is too early to know.

i live in toa baja which is very close to cata~o ( where the explosion happened). there are no dead bodies,no plane crashes. 11 tanks exploded from 40. now they are saying that two more tanks are probably going to explode. some house trembled and the cabinets and the doors flew open. the firemen and police are doing their best to keep the fire under control...

My niece Suzette Zengotita and some friends saw and felt the explosion in the town of Vega Alta which is about three towns away from Bayamon many, many miles (I measured roughly about 12 - 13 miles in Google maps) and she felt the explosion rattle fences were she was.

She said to me that she saw a huge mushroom cloud that looked like a smaller version of a nuclear explosion, it was that bad, this is no exaggeration, many other people reported the huge mushroom cloud on the radio too.

I've heard rumors on the radio that the Goya building was affected in the explosion with people inside but this is just speculation at the moment.

There are rumors also that it was a plane crash but again this is speculation and there are also speculation about a guild attack because some people from some union said that there would be surprises today in Puerto Rico and this is related to the many local layoffs cause of the economy problem but this is speculative.

It is not the Bacardi refinery, the Bacardi refinery is very far away from the explosion site farther to the north, it was the Gulf gasoline refinery in Bayamon Puerto Rico.

I've been through that place many times and some of the closest buildings are The Goya factory which makes many food products, The Budweiser plant and The V. Suarez and Co building which distributes all kinds off foods (groceries, etc) through all the island. Those are very close, adjacent to the refinery.

OMG wow...I live in vega alta, pr I'm on a the 5th floor of my appartment and I can see everything. I thought it was an earthquake. It was the Gulf refinery that exploded. As for dead we have no clue and attacks no one will know until morning. BTW Where were you when you took this in Old San Juan???
