  • Gah. I read the book. It is so amazing and i couldnt help but shed a tear. :')

  • They should've chosen another actor for charlie. in "flowers for algernon" charlie, i dnt know, i felt he was better. i felt he had another voice. If i hadnt read the book i wouldnt have like the movie

  • Ps thanks for uploading!

  • We read the book in school now I'm watching the movie.

  • There so mean to him ):

  • I've already read the short version, now I want to read the full version...

  • @SleepyMonkies we just finished the short version. It was really sad. :(

  • Reading this in Launguage Arts and have to do a project on it. Heard there was a movie and wanted to check it out! Aw I love Charly! I just want to hug him all the time!

  • Reading this in Launguage Arts and have to do a project on it. Heard there was a movie and wanted to check it out! Aw I love Charly! I just want to hug him ALL the time!

  • Like if reading the book 'Flowers for Algernon' by Daniel Keyes brought you here. :)

  • @ashis098

i read the short version in my advanced english class, its so sad!

  • Were reading this in english today

  • Great movie, although I was always annoyed that they changed the title, Flowers for Algernon always sounded so much better to me. Cliff won his oscar by going full retard but then later in the movie going full genius and then retard again, I call it a Robertson Loop.

  • The co worker on the left @9:28 is Barney Martin (Morty Seinfeld, Jerry Seinfeld's father) in the show SEINFELD.

  • We read the story in my english class! CHESSER RULEZ!

  • I love this movie. Period! :D

And the guy who plays Charly (Cliff Robertson or something, right?) is totally cute!!

  • Damn, stupid e-learning project, i'm supposed to watch the entire series of Charly Gordon and make a movie review == anyone can help me do? I would greatly appreciate it. :DD

  • @AgentDoomIIIV What exactly do you need help with? Is this an English course or a psych?

  • I almost cried reading the short story. Just to have to KNOW you'll be unintelligent as it happens would horrify me.

  • Charlie Gordon rocks! He's right up there in my books with Archie Bunker and Ralphie Wiggum.

  • CC ruins the movie

  • i read this in english class wanted to see the movie thanks

  • is this the original or the remake?

  • Hmmm I have recently re read this book and I am dissapointed with this opening. They make him really look like a child which he is mentally but doesnt lay with children! I also hate how they make him out to be the dumbest in his school for adults while in the book he is average among his peers but he has alot more confidence!

  • @dbrown888 i completely agree

  • @xXHawtLikeThatXx Cool. Me too.

  • I watched this in my homeclass. Never watch with idiots, because I couldnt hear ANYTHING from the movie, everyone was being stupid and talking about how "funny" or "scary" the movie was, or how the kissing scene was "rape". GOD I hate my school.

  • @Whoaman555

Thats called being a typical teenager.

  • thank you so much for posting this. FFA is one of my fav books!

  • Well written story but very contemporary. I'm astonished that kids nowadays understand the story.

  • I just finished reading this book in my Lit/Lang class

I think it is the first book in a while to make me cry because I feel genuinely sorry for the main character...

  • I'm in 8th grade, we just read the book and I think its very interesting and intriguing. It really shows the depth of the human mind. I find mental illness quite interesting and I very much enjoyed this novel as well as the film, titled "Rainman" (1988), starring Dustin Hoffman.

  • wow I´m in 8th grade and i am reading this on literature haha !!!

  • The book is one of the most amazing stories Ive ever read!

  • Never go full retard!

  • @Xemento He went from full retard to genius back to full retard. Great performance!

  • Skool. Charlie is an Invader Zim fan.

  • read the book in middle school and never seen it since im 24 yrs old now and for some reason i remmeber it alot and always wanted to see the movie cause our teacher made us watch it. good movie.

  • Good movie, but I still think the book is better.

  • i lol'd through the book and stopped when he started writing correctly because it bored me

  • @kzwj homo

  • @kzwj Fucking heartless bitch

  • im in 8th grade reading the book, its good, i like it :)

  • Paul that is pretty raceist people of all races treat mentaly retarted people badly

  • im reading the book now. really nice

  • White people were pretty evil in the 1960s as this movie shows. Whites would think NOTHING of making fun of Minorities and Mentally Challanged people like Charlie.

It is sad that Whites STILL have problems in these areas in 2010.

    Sad.

  • this is amazing

  • We just finished reading this in my Language arts class.

    An amazing book.

  • i'll never forget reading this in my 8th grade english class-without a doubt one of my all time fav books

  • to every one who said 8th grade do you mean del sure

  • @twistingthenightaway im in 8th grade and im reading it now, the only book that brought me to tears. The worst thing im having a test on it tomorrow

  • @TheRockureworld4me It's definitely an emotional book! Be sure to read up I'm sure you'll do fine.

  • the movie is excellent but the novel is even better :).

  • I can remember reading a movie critics review of CHARLY decades ago when I was a child...he described the film as "bittersweet", and I remember wondering what the word meant. After I saw the film I knew. The first movie that ever made me cry...30 plus years later, it still does.

  • yeah i read the long version in sixth grade.. alot of sex references lol

  • we watched this movie after we read the book. i loved it. there were so many funny parts. and i love how Charly is played by the guy who plays Uncle Ben in Spiderman.

  • Reading this book in school. We just got done with part 1.

  • i'm reading this book in school

  • I learn online they censor it of sexual reasons.

  • me too!!

  • same here! well parts cuz its in the textbook

  • ya me to. it just shows progress reports

  • yup :)

  • We also read a shortened version in literature and I loved it, although it was a tad bit sad.

  • was it "Flowers For Algernon"? cause i read it in school.

  • yea that's what the book is called

  • yes

  • Read the long version.

    It's better :)

  • i got one question for ya!!! lol

does it end exactly like the literature book have it end....

if it's worth reading the full version rather than asking you just tell me lol

  • lol we read a shortened version of the book in language arts and now were watchin the movie. weve watched a lot of it but i just wanna watch it again just because i can lol

  • wth is with the music?

  • what's with the subs?

  • the guy who plays charly also plays uncle ben in spiderman

  • this is sooo baad...Flowers for Algernon isnt a book to make a movie based on it...

  • This was made in 1968, that's why the quality is unsatisfactory. I wish someone would remake it...

  • there was a 2000 remake on TV

  • Oh really? I'd better see it

  • I just finished the book. Great book. What is the song at the beginning.

  • its chinese

  • The music is actually Indian, performed and written by Ravi Shankar.

  • we just read the book in class in 7 th grade sanger ca

  • im gunuh watsh thes agin and agin

  • im in eighth grade and i just finished it =( so sad

  • thank you so much for posting this

  • i just finished this,

its amazing. and sad. i feel so sorry for him!

  • where did you get the movie?

  • I read it in one day a few days ago, it's not that hard. Stop being lazy and complaining how you can't read it. :P

  • I'm in eighth, I read it a couple days ago.

    Finally fount the movie!

  • saw this yesterday and is truly one of the best movies I've ever seen

  • the movie is so different from the book.... i loved the movie btw :D

  • @scilencedx111 Movies usualy are. I read Jurassic Park cover to cover and I felt it was a completly diffrent story from the movie.

  • we read the original story in a textbook. we finished it in 8th grade and might watch the movie..i love it

  • I watched it in 8th grade too and read an abridged version of it. ( I also read the full novel later) and it was so ****ing awesome.

  • how long is it

  • It's about 25 pages I think...?

    Can't really remember.

  • There must be a shortened version of it that I don't know about. The actual book is about 311 pages I do believe.

  • The shorter version is found in school text books for high school I think. Or was it middle school? Anyway, it's a abridged version with some major differences.

    The short story had:

    1. Obviously shorter.

    2. Charlie didn't have a sister or meet his mother.

    3. There was little/no references in his childhood

    4. He had a boss/worker relationship with his boss, Donner. In the full book he had a fatherly relationship.

There's a lot more though. It's like the film.

    Still has the bad "handwriting".

  • The shortened version is the original novella, the longer one followed a few years later

  • I remember they turned it into short stories in intermediate school literature books. Although I've read the book.

  • 8th Grade Highland Indiana(:

We finshed the book two days ago

Now were at half the movie!

  • we in malaysia also got to read the book in my teaching english through literature course.its such a nice story and pity charly for whats happened to him.

fyi,the japanese made a drama out of this.

  • You all surprised me very much. I did not expect that this book (and movie) are in the standard school program in USA, Malaysia and ... Any other country?

  • yea they are, iam in 8th grade but the class i go to for study hall the 11th grade is reading this and i got interested

  • Yeah, so is Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery". But, you know what? In school, no one is really paying attention. In school, we read because we are told to and we do so in a mechanical fashion. The contents of what we're reading don't really have meaning, as a consequence. Even if the meaning is discussed (and the teacher doesn't get it wrong, as mine often did) it's not going to take hold. Any learning done under coercion doesn't take hold in the mind.

  • Guatemala, 8th grade. I'm currently reading the book.

  • @panahana Whats the name of the japanese drama?

  • @YesIm10 it's "Algernon ni Hanataba wo". I didn't watch the drama though.

  • Thanks for posting! We started watching this when I was in 7th or 8th grade, but our English teacher didn't let us finish because the class was filled with morons...anyway, thanks!

  • lol no texas

  • Oh, well. That was a coincidence :)

  • I read this story at school too, and I live in Maryland.

Maybe we all use the same books?

  • mines called Literature Book :D. isnt this a great story?

  • Yeah it is! That's probably why my literature put so much effort into making us actually read it.

Hehe. My books form Prentice Hall... I think...

  • i had to read the short story version in school this year too, but we never got to watch the movie! D:

i think schools everywhere read this :)

its such a great story :D

  • same!

i think we're not supposed to watch it cuz ms. kinnian gets raped?

  • hmm im not sure;

because the reason we didnt watch it was because my teacher couldnt find the movie anywhere.

but im pretty sure we cant watch it because of the whole rape scene. bahaha

  • This m0vie came out in 1968? I'm surprised it ain't black and white! The book was a very nice story. The movie is great, 2!

  • Black and white? They barely started color films in the 40'S..but it didnt get popular till much later..The first color film was actually The Wizard of Oz which was made in 1939..

  • this is an amazing play,

and I'm so happy that I can watch this. :D

  • Thank you for posting the whole real movie! I love the book "Flowers for Algernon", and I'd been wanting to see this movie, but I don't have a TV, VCR, or DVD player where I'm living right now.
