  • that's one truckload of dollar tree chinese plastic crap that's been reduced to plastic splinters

  • truck drivers are half-dead most of the time due to lack of sleep and pushing themselves to cover long distances with few rest stops, so it doesn't surprise me to see things like this...that aside, the driver was a lucky F#&$*er to have managed avoiding collision with the cab

  • Train driver is Chuck Norris

  • 0:02 SCORE!!

  • Even when the level crossing alarms are working and the barrier arms are down, the train has right of way.

  • that train is a fucking tank

  • Bet Truckin company was sent bill to replace all the signal lights n gates it destroyed ......

  • homer simpson was driving,lol

  • Looking at this vid again 0:02-0:04, it's amazing seeing how the locomotive's impact spins the trailer's rear axle set like a pair of roller skates. Tonnage at speed is nothing to mess with. What a nightmare this must have been for the locomotive crew when they saw that truck, knowing they were going to slam into it.

  • what did the freight train say to the truck? ...SLAP!

  • I didnt hear a whistle at any point... but the trucker is a fucking moron.

  • that shit will buff out.

  • I think the train said keep taking your sweet ass time crossing the track, I m going to knock the living shit out of you!

  • That left a mark...

  • Look at the wheels on the truck go flying at 0:02

  • whoa, that's a big no no. any class a truck driver knows you stop the second the lights start flashing, look like the cross arms were already down.you never how fast the train is coming anyways and its difficult to judge its speed due to its size.

  • Oh yeah the train is the Lakers in game one of 2010.

  • COMING THROUGH!!!

  • That dumb motherfucker!

  • I bet he will NEVER forget that eperience. and seriously packed his britches.

  • Press 1 during playback lol

  • Truck used block! But it failed!

Train used Body Slam! It's Super Effective!

  • yeah i agree with that i work for a short line railroad and we have 2 spots where we have street running and you find the idiots there.

  • watch the rear ends of the trailer!

  • Where is the horn????

  • POW

    right in the kisser

  • i bet that truck driver has got the up most respect for trains now

  • I'm glad this truck wasn't a gasoline tanker!

  • is this in salisbury nc? by spencer yard?

  • How have I NOT seen this clip yet?

  • FATALITY !!! FLAWLESS VICTORY

  • train: get the fuck out of my way!!!!!!!

    truck: ohhhh shit!!!!

    boooom

    truck: owwww my ass!!!!!!

train: I told you to move but instead you have to be like grandma and go slow.

  • Driving trains with all those morons and ungated crossings must be a nightmare! All respect to train crews everywhere

  • Why is one of the top rated comments of an idiot who took 4 minutes till he found out he didn't start the video?

  • @carcotasu08 howd he even get 1 thumbs up thats a vote down

  • If you pay close attention around 0:02, you may notice the train not giving a shit about the truck.

  • sound and video don't really match... sounds like this was ripped from one of those "you gotta see this" or "caught on camera" or something. Where's the real video? In any case, this trucker is a moron. I drove semi for 13 yrs and no one with half a brain would get themselves into that situation in the first place... even if he did stall it on the tracks.

  • When will people learn that the only ones that have the right of way over trains are nukes, asteroids, and Godzilla

  • @Byos4902

    classic comment lol

  • @Byos4902 And Chuck Norris

  • you fukn wanker

  • Flawless Victory

  • Man, that trains like "Get outa my way bish!"

  • Stupid ass! The flashing lights ar'nt for the train to stop! It's for YOU to stop!

  • Optimus prime got owned by Chuck Norris

  • The back set of wheels from the trailer goes flying like it was a basketball.

  • trailer: "I BELIVE I CAN FLYYYYYYY"

  • This was ripped off, I personally know the guy who shot this, asshole!!

  • Did you tape this?

  • To set the record straight, I was there. This happened in Salisbury, NC. I was working on a local train nereby. Train hit the truck at 44mph. The engineer put the train in emergency just 2 secs before impact. NS #173 that day - almost 10,000 tons, just over 100 cars. This section of rail is a level grade. That's really how long it took for the train to stop. Reports stated the driver stalled his truck trying to cross too fast. Video's sound is incorrect. NS #173 never stopped blowing the horn.

  • not like a train can steak up on you, or swerve to hit you. how do you get hit by a train.

  • If stupid drivers had to pay for the damages caused by their stupidity, do you think would any of them would wake up and smell the coffee, and catch a clue?

  • Next time, why not just mount the semi trailer into the train? It'd be a lot safer. :|

  • @paddyotay Yeah? Why do you say that? You don't think there are plent of dumbass legal idiots born in the good ole USA driving trucks now.

I know many illegal aliens who are much better drivers than the rude, reckless, drug-crazed American born drivers polluting the road today.

  • look at the rear trailer wheels instantly seperate from the frame of the trailer!

  • way to steal the video from nsconcord you damn bastard

  • exciting. thanks for the post!

  • Obviously that bit if information that it takes "any train more than a mile or a half to stop moving" is proven wrong in this video.

Now, if you have a 15000 ton train moving at 60mph then the stopping distance may approach what you're talking about under certain circumstances.

But the train you see above was no where near that speed and the tonnage was far less.

  • air brakes

  • stupid truck driver

  • Reminds me a can opener

  • Whats the best way to derail a train then?

  • put a coin on the track xD

  • was every1 okay?!?!?

  • hahah i was sitting here 4 like 4 mins and nothing was happening then i relized it was paused

  • @12345chuckles its probably because you're american :S

  • @12345chuckles haha lol dont you hate when tht happens

  • Truck=Fail

  • it should have blew the horn, almost all trains do that until they accutally hit the viechle thats what the all should do at railroad crossing even if theres no viechle there

  • Not all railroad crossings. Those with quad gates and certified as a noise free crossing are exempt from having to blow the horn.

I "think" this is one of those crossings. However, I'm not certain.

However, with that said engineers will normally blow the horn in this situation given the stupid driver decided to stop his truck on the track.

  • They did not blow the horn because they were ducked for cover. They duck for cover when it comes to hitting semis and bigger vehicles but not cars. I know this because there are personal friends of mine that are railway engineers that have hit semis before lol.

  • I will buy the ducking for cover story. When it's inevitable your going to be in a collision then most are going to just duck and pray.

I also contend that this is a "no blow" crossing, but under the rules I operate under you would still blow in this situation. (Unless your covering and praying. LOL)

    Hope your friends were ok

  • Yea they were fine. Its just that sometimes debris will fly through the cab windows causing injury to the crew.

  • i was the engineer and i swear on my sisters grave

  • the train after the crash never mind this situation

  • Train: 1 Truck: 0

  • The train crashes?

  • Trains have so much momentum, they can go through just about anything.

Also not allowing them to stop quickly at all.

  • What amazed me most is how fast the the train stopped after hitting the truck although the engineer probably put the train air brake all the way into emergency moments away before he dived to the floor and hit the trailer.

Also three dash 9's on the head end means a pretty heavy train it's pulling behind or in the case of stopping the train pushing against the three dash 9's.

A train's locomotive is more effective at pulling than slowing a pushing train behind it.

  • Not really that amazing given you have no idea what the consist weighs. The number of units on the head end does not automatically tell you the train is heavy. Some could be on for repositioning. Or the units could have been used to pull a heavy train in the opposite direction early during the day. You're right on a locomotive being more capable of moving than slowing. In this case the locomotive brakes were probably bailed off.

  • True. But keep in mind that each locomotive alone weighs in at approx 410,000 pounds and how many were on that train. Very unlikely that helpers would be pulling the train back with them as well because when helper locos finish pushing / pulling, they seperate from the train completely and travel by their lonesome. Even empty, a train hitting ur car is the same exact impact of ur car hitting a soda can. A train hitting u is the same impact of ur car hitting a bug that flew into windshield.

  • Let me assure you that "helpers" do not always or usually separate from the train and travel back by their lonesome. Balancing power is a crucial part of operating a profitable railroad. Locomotives needed to move heavy trains uphill in one direction are generally moved back on the next train going in the appropriate direction. The exception of course are regions that are set up specifically for very short hauls where units are dedicated to "pushing". Thsoe are rare though.

  • I know that. Also, on the line that I live on, the helpers / pushers do always detach and head back by their lonesome or go and wait on a siding for the next train to come that they will assist. I am very familiar with the power needed to move trains. Most railroads do have the helpers seperate after they get done tackling a big steep grade to take track time off of the locos and save fuel, etc. Sometimes helpers are needed for the entire trip though. We are both correct lol.

  • @charlieb640 It is very untrue. The train like all the other vehicles can decelarates much faster than it accelerates. That's because only the locomotivese provide torque for moving and accelerating the train but when it comes to braking every car of the train has its own brakes witch are controlled from the loco. Like on a car only two wheels are moving the car but all four of them are braking it

  • When it comes to train dynamics don't tell me what I say is untrue kid. I teach this shit.

Read my comment again...I said a locomotive was more capable of moving than slowing. Loco brakes alone aren't going to stop a heavy train. I even said the locomotive brakes were probably 'bailed off' which implies the cars were doing the braking.

  • Listen to sorinncs, because you're dumb.

  • I may be dumb...but nothing I wrote here is innacurate.

Point out which argument in my post is wrong GH. You can't do it because you don't know what you're talking about.

  • You and Charlie are basically saying the same thing.

You need to keep in mind he railroads in Houston and if he isn't moving petrochemicals he gets confused. :>

In general though...he's right. Only locomotives can move the train. But stopping power on a long train is principally a job for the brake system on the entire train.

  • Another idiot who thinks he can do whatever the fuck he pleases. When are people going to understand: TRAINS WILL ALWAYS WIN. TRAINS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY. TRAINS CAN NOT STOP QUICKLY. And morons like that put me and other train crew members in danger ALL THE TIME!

  • I don't know a person who doesn't know that. It's just that people don't pay attention or try to beat the train and don't make it.

  • @mongo5888 What about the video disproves the possibility of a breakdown.

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOL! Epic crossing fail! Dang truck took out the whole crossing guard and everything! At least he survived.

  • One of Osborn Transportation 's finest drivers.

  • let the train win the time game and live

  • the truck driver did not die right that is almost imposible

  • fuck me...:-O

if it was a bus there...

in my country,Romania,a microbus was hit by train....14 people die and others was woundeds...most of them was teenagers...childrens...

that accident was provocated by that stupid microbus driver, who dont have licence for people transport...

  • Per capita the U.S. has more idiotic drivers per square mile. This is very evident in many places I drive to. Especially large urban ares.

  • "more idiotic drivers per square mile" than.....what? You didn't finish your thought.

I've driven all over the world. I can name you MANY places where driving is not only worse, but much worse.

And given the population in the US...and the proliferation of video equipment among the poplace in general...you are defnitely going to find that idiotic drivers will be found.

  • The first sentence finishes the thought. I am an OTR Truck Driver so I know from experience where the usual problematic areas are. But in the last 10 years it has gotten worse everywhere.

  • I'm not an OTR...so I'm going to bow to your experience and knowledge. And even as a non-professional driver I do know driving seems to be worse in the last ten years.

However, I will disagree that we have more idiotic drivers than in other countries. Try Mexico City or Sao Palo. Crazy places.

  • it was an OPINION just like most other people's comments on here, I am not like you the all knowing train guy, thats what you should change your name to.

  • Seriously. Think I should change my name?

    "ALLKNOWINGTRAINGUY" seems long to me.

However, I'll correct you on this. I learn something about this job every day I didn't know before. Once you stop learning, get out of the business.

  • and obviously the crew knows how much the train weighs.

  • I was responding to your comment "only God knows".

Actually the crew knows. The dispatcher knows. Anyone handling the train knows. Most individuals with basic railroad knowledge can come close.

And as far as asking...I was just curious how you knew the train went into emergency and what was so hard on a braking system.

  • So then if you know why did you ask ?

  • 1 i know a guy that works for csx, he said more than likely the engineer and conductor hit the emergency brake and then they hit the floor before the train crashed into the truck. 2 if you think about it those trains trains god only knows how much they weigh, probably several thousands of tons each, hell the engines weigh 400 to 500 thosand pounds each, and you have all that weight hauling ass like that and then just slam on brakes it is hard on the brake shoes, wheels etc.

  • OK...your "friend' is probably wrong. This crew probably applied heavy brakes without going into emergency. That's what they are trained to do.

Secondly...not only does GOd know how much they weigh, but so does the crew. Their train consist gives them length and weight. It's not thta hard to figure out.

A heavy brake application will of course result in wear on brake shoes. But unless the crew handles the stop wrong the wheels will be fine.

  • the train stopped quickly because the engineer did an emergency stop, witch is hard on the braking system.

  • Couple of questions.

#1: How can you tell the train went into emergency?

#2: What is so hard on the braking system for an emergency stop of this nature (If indeed it was which I doubt)

  • i guarentee that train did not crash after it hit the trailer.

  • trains are basically unstoppable. Unless they fly of the rails or hit something really heavy.

  • Why is there a camera set up in this odd location to begin with? I suspect a rat....

  • There are those of us who like to railfan...

  • OK. Also people say it take a mile or two for a freight train to stop. This one seemed to stop pretty quick.

  • Those "mile long" comments in theory refer to a very heavy train traveling at high speed.

This one wasn't going that fast. As I don't know how many cars it had or if they were empty or loaded, can't guess tonnage. And of course from this video you can't tell how long the engineer had his brakes applied.

But I agree in general...this train stopped fairly quickly.

  • Luckily it wasn't a schoolbus filled with children.

  • Luckily it wasn't a tank trailer filled with 10,000 gallons of gasoline!

  • look left then right ....it's not that hard...

  • LOL

That train knocked the entire tandem axles off the trailer frame. :)

  • was the locomotive damaged?

  • tell me, what do you think? a 100 tons locomotive will me damaged by a 5 tons trailer?

  • it can still dent the train

  • wtf.. that was pretty cool video though, it look like he survived

  • Did the truck drivers parents have any children that lived, maybe the parents were brother and sister.... what a boxhead, would have to take his shoes off to count past ten, driving smarts of a gnats foreskin.

  • wat?

  • I watched the complete vid and I stil can't understand why the driver stopped at the red light. If that was me I'd rather risk crossing red lights than a crash with a train

  • Where did you get the complete video from? I want to see it as well.

  • That person deserved to get it if they're that stupid..

  • Massive sadface! I wish i was there. That way i can run up to the driver Point and laugh then take pictures.

  • Theres no whistle cause the crew is prolly on the floor triing to protect themselfs. But what do I know Im just a hoghead,.

  • this is becuz of no horn zones. stupid people complain of noise from horns, theres a reason why there loud! To WARN

  • My below comment was directed at a previous post on another page, talking about how the driver was stuck on the page... since I just noticed this didn't put my comment reply on the correct page.

  • you can see the rear axel of the trailer just go FLYING... badass. haha

  • HA that's funny.

  • wow! that train took the hit and kept hauling ass!

  • that semil drivers still living atleast its not like the train killed him it just hit the back. and u dont always die from crashing into a train my friends dads semi got the front hit by a train and the truck flipped off the tracks and he lived.

  • This must have been staged for a movie or something?? There's no horn from the train. That's not normal.

  • ya but trains dont always pull the horn sometimes they just expect the other driver to move so in this case thats wut pry happened

  • Some crossings are designated 'no blow' due to local restrictions. This is probably one of those.

    Definitely not staged.

  • what does no blow mean??

  • In some municipalities the railroads and communities reach an agreement where the train does not blow at the crossing. The community usually funds upgraded crossing equipment so that blowing the horn is not necessary and does not disturb the public. (Residential areas, hospitals, etc). Statistically these crossings have proven very safe, but they are very expensive.

  • that train sliced through that trailer like a hot nife through butter.

  • trl for sale

    sides and walls slightly used

  • train driving is really fun

  • It can be.

And then there are days when little goes right. Units drop offline. It's cold as hell outside and your air is slow. You're held in a hole somewhere waiting for some dispatcher to move you so you can go home.

But...when it's sunny and 72 and the units are all running and your crew is top notch....there's no feeling like it

  • and everyone gets out of your way, well almost anyway

  • So, what was in the trailer?

What was in front of the trucker, a slow moving car?

For a train, it did seem to slow down quite fast.

  • I don't get how anybody can get into an accident with a train (aside from the vehicle dying out on the perfect spot), it seems so retarded.

  • Yup. That's why I say, thank God for railfans like us, so we can catch doughballs like that on video while watching trains. I'm glad that truck driver got hit by an NS manifest. What I say about people like that is that if they can't avoid being hit by a train, then they have no respect for anyone else out the road. You said it. How do you get by a train?

  • You have it wrong.

    Most railfans are fine.

But you are in that 2 percent category that makes the rest look bad. You constantly second guess rail professionals and post half-truths and rumors.

Then when a professional like myself corrects you in the videos you post, you delete those comments.

You constantly berate UP on your silly videos. But every time it is pointed out that UP is the most profitable railroad in North America in 2008 you delete the post.

    Get another hobby.

  • BNSFmanifests is a railfan's worst nightmare.

It is his type that makes the rest of the railfans look bad.

    Immature.

Monday Morning Quarterback talking about things he knows nothing about.

    Rude. Arrogant. Uneducated know-it-all.

Railfans. Take note. When you see or hear comments from people like BNSFmanifests take note. It is people like him that force the professionals to take dim views or all of you.

    It's sad. But true.

  • Exactly boss.

    I agree.

Railfans need only to look to BNSF manifest and his video comments to see why we do not want you around.

It just takes a few to spoil it for everyone. In his case his negative tirades and constant uneducated posts about railroading are just pathetic.

At one point his commented that jagged rails cause flat spots. LOL. What a dirtbag.

  • why is it always NS that hits trucks? i mean come on...them and CSX are my local lines

  • Why word it that way. Why not say "Why is it that trucks always pull out in front of NS trains"

However, statistically speaking NS and CSXT have about the same number of accidents annually.

  • haha...why is it that more people get trucks pulling out in front of NS trains on video? haha

  • since the truck is so long they dont always know the back of the truck is still on the tracks but this is not the case in thes accident its just a very bad mistake by the driver

  • If the driver does not know whether or not he cleared the tracks...he should not be driving.

A professional who had his wits about him would not have made this mistake.

  • Is this supposed to be a crash test???

  • I think I can make it,,,,,,(last thought of that steering wheel holder before that train knocked his ass loose from that seat he just shit in)

  • NS FTW!!

  • move bitch, get out the way, get out the way bitch get out the way

  • Nice hit!

  • Pshinspections... thats sexist =)

It could have been a European Jk

  • Women drivers...

  • I remember a subway train in New York City killed a person once and they hand to pull the train operator's hand from the control he was so stocked.

The Operator was never the same after that.

But that truck driver is clearly stupid. You can see the gate arm resting on the trailer. What's the rush? Maybe he had to take a shit.

  • If he did have to go, he certainly did when he got hit lol.

  • Why is it that anyone who makes a mistake on Youtube is always "Stupid" or an "Idiot". People do make mistakes. This one was a very bad mistake, but that doesn't mean the driver is stupid

  • where is the horn?

  • No horn due to the fact the crew saw they were going to hit the trailer. We are trained to get in the floor of the cab if we can tell a collision is imminent. In this case it was.

I have been in this situation & its not a good feeling. From the time you hit the floor to the time you impact whatever it is your hitting, can seem like hours....

  • Yep. The floor of the cab is a cold, lonely uncertain place.

  • Yes sir.

  • N/S must stand for No Semis! Well boss, she's got a little scratch and she needs a wheel alignment, but other than that the train is okay!

  • dose anyone els notice that the NS trains are vary frequent at hitting trucks? almost all the videos ive seen involve NS.

  • true probobly ns uses bad brakes

  • NS uses the same braking systems as all other U.S.Class 1 railroads. I know,I've worked for them 30 years. The same locomotives, the same cars, mostly made by the same companies. Even the same brake shoes.

  • All freight railroads in North America (US, Canada and Mexico) use exactly the same braking system. It's mandated. Railcars from one railroad are given to other railroads to transport (interchanged). Standard braking systems are a must.

  • They travel tens of thousands of miles in very populated areas. They and CSXT would certainly have a higher rate of highway grade crossing accidents than other roads.

Outside of that...just not enough youtube videos to draw any sort of conclusion
