@TheZenMovies When you get some certain amount of Stars, Luigi will randomly appear in some missions and offer to handle it for Mario. If you accept, you play as Luigi for that mission.

Hnnngh... I need to make sure I don't watch too many of these videos before I get the game. It sure would be a shame if my excitement for the game were to wane because I was foolish enough to view the coverage of all the levels beforehand.

@TehFoamy Well, I purposefully picked three missions in the first galaxy in the game to make sure the spoilers are as minor as possible.

Well, I kinda expected you to do a playthrough of Super Mario Galaxy 2 sometime after it was released, but I didn't expect you to do these kinds of videos THAT soon after release. Lucky for me, I got to do this all pretty much blind, though there's still a bit of stuff for me to do in that game.

Anyways, I would say that, although the game is overall harder than the original Super Mario Galaxy, it still starts off easy enough, but gradually gets harder as you progress through the game.

Yes, you do. On GameFAQs it says you have to beat Bowser. He's not available from the start of the game.

@SuperHoboPirateNinja After you beat Bowser for the final time, you will be able to play as Luigi whenever you want. You can still play as him before you beat the game, though. After a few dozen stars, Luigi will start appearing at the beginning of some levels.

@SuperHoboPirateNinja That would be in the Slimy Spring Galaxy. I can't remember the name for sure, but it's called something like "The Deep Well..." something. That's second on the queue, whatever the case.
