Go back to the comment posted by cremola79 ~ the castle IS being restored to its historic condition. This was 1) to raise funds from tourists to help out, and 2) to have a bit of fun in the meantime.

As has been said, the concrete facing needs to be re-furbished. It will be *hopefully* back to mint condition before long!

(I am also Scottish by descent, but living in the States~ a creative solution to a pressing problem that I imagine exists with many noble families in this world-wide recession.)

Having just visited Kelburne at the weekend and saw what has been done, it is a damned shame. The building dates back to around 1700 and now looks like a cartoon building - horrific.

My god that was beautiful. What a great ending sequence. Very inspirational - I have been a big fan of the Sao Paolo underground for sometime. I was recently the lucky recipient of one of the original 12oz Prophets issue that debuted Os Gemeos to the American Graff scene.

This is a 1000 year old castle and I watched a documentary on it. This has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. The people that own this castle continue to try and ruin it. They had a couple of million dollars from the sale of land and they spent it on graffiti. This castle needed a lot of other stuff besides this. I can guarantee you every other castle owner on the planet thinks this is a joke. The castle should be restored not ruined.

Tthe castle is being restored, Historic Scotland, who looks after all historic castles in scotland realised that in the 1960's the castle was covered in a concrete render and at the time no one knew any better. this means that the original stone work under the render cannot breath, shortening the life of the walls. In 3 years time all the concrete render, graffiti and all has to come off the castle and be replaced with a breathable lime render, and the castle restored to it's pre 1960's state.
