It's a very sad moment but also a very good one in terms of the Gears trilogy, Dom goes to join his family instead of winning the war against the locust and living on without them and the fact that he dies heroically is very fitting for his character.
This is also one of the very few points in the trilogy where we see Marcus' love for Dom.
I don't think it's as sad as Aeris' death in FF7 but it's certainly very touching.
Carmine woulda died anyway. The vote was determining whether that ending scene was to be put in at the end of the game. They didn't change the entire plot of the game around for Carmine's survival.

This death was sad but so was the death of Naomi or Big Boss. In killzone you lose Templar after some Helghast arse shot your lady-friend and him through the chest. In his dying breath he deactivates the missiles and the space station to save you. I'm not saying these games are much comparable but they do have sad moments.

When it comes to my wii its the best system to play with my entire family. The ps3 has amazing single player games that the Xbox only wishes it would have plus the sound and graphics on it are slightly better. When it comes to online play the Xbox has less lag and a great party up system for friends which is where it shines.

I am impressed with the sad expressions that was on Marcus' face. Amazing show of emotion. I played 1 and 2 and know why Dom is so depressed but I didnt play GW3 to get the context so I dont really feel sad but this seemed like a predictable way to kill him off and it comes off as corny. If they were going to kill him off or give him a mercy killing they could of done it in a better way, a more deserving way for such a great character.

@rhomifications To be accurate, a Blu-ray disc could theoretically be played in a 12x drive, which would mean faster read speeds than DVD. You're correct however in that the PS3 only has a 2x drive, and thus much slower load times than the 360, which has a 12x DVD drive.
Hopefully if the PS4 still uses Blu-ray discs it will have a 12x drive.

I am impressed with the sad expressions that was on Marcus' face. Amazing show of emotion. I played 1 and 2 and know why Dom is so depressed but I didnt play GW3 to get the context so I dont really feel sad but this seemed like a predictable way to kill him off and it comes off as corny. If they were going to kill him off or give him a mercy killing they could of done it in a better way, a more deserving way for such a great character.

@rhomifications To be accurate, a Blu-ray disc could theoretically be played in a 12x drive, which would mean faster read speeds than DVD. You're correct however in that the PS3 only has a 2x drive, and thus much slower load times than the 360, which has a 12x DVD drive.
Hopefully if the PS4 still uses Blu-ray discs it will have a 12x drive.
