Is he still in LA? If so, why? It seems he doesn't like the people or the food and probably not much else. He'd be better off almost anywhere else in the U.S. or the world for that matter.
I agree with what Morrissey said about not meeting people in LA.. I have lived in LA all of my life.. Trust me.. everyone is a douchebag.. Shame he had to leave to Italy but COMPLETELY understandable. XD
I always feel sorry for the few interviewers who get to speak to Morrissey - it's like walking on eggshells. It's not only fools he doesn't suffer gladly, but a large proportion of pretty bright people too.
I guess the guy feels that those few interviews he agrees to do are just a few to many...
Still trying hard to hold on to the angst. I guess he feels that if he loses it then he might not be as productive as he was in his youth.
There are many people who appreciate the slate sky and the 'way' people have about them in your home town and many other subtleties and seeming simplicities of life. It is pretentious to state that no one else appreciates these things. This is the kind of comment you expect from a youth in th midst of angst.
Can all the insecure losers please fuck off the Morrissey videos? He's not smug, he's not big-headed, he's just great. You wouldn't know though, you suck.
Jools: "Knock knock" Morrissey: "What the hell is it now Jools?" Jools: "Is Morrissey a moody boy?" Morrissey: Hotel fire, or M-3 pile up ? Your choise Jools"
what? theres nothin wrong with this interview! where was he being unkind? this interveiw made me laugh and for no other reason than he has a personalty of his own and obviously he has sense of humuor, which you may or may not understand or like, but its perfectly normal for people to carve thier own laungage of expression. humour, tone and other idiosyncracies for want of a better word displays individuality.not everyone is a product this dumbed down society.hooray for difference!!
He isn't shy or nervous! He just isn't a performer - provided he receives good banter and question (which isnt often as people don't know how to respond to him and his humour) he will have a good ole chat, but he won't force enthusiasm to humour the interviewer

i like the smiths but morrisey the man is a ballbag , and being nervous or shy is no excuse for being a dick , if he didn't want to be interviewed he shouldn't have gone on the show
Okay I'm noticing that I've been getting quit a bit of feedback regarding my comments of how I felt Morrissey doesn't seem to be a kind individual. Maybe I'm wrong and he's just nervous or something, I don't know. I've seen other interviews where he seems slightly more open and kind so he could have been having a bad day here. Anyway that all I have to say people, besides that his music is inspiring and beautiful.
@SarahET85 no its not. in this interview he isnt nice or charming. He comes across as patronising and unco-operative in this interview. Maybe he has something against Jools Holland, maybe he just wasnt in a great mood that day.

I have it on good authority that he HAS BEEN a bit unfriendly at some points, but this is only what I've heard and believe me anyway celebrities do get like that, they turn like that over time. He's still a genius.
It seems to me that he's actually a quite shy, introverted person... and his dry and kind of aggressive sense of humor is just a way of coping with that. I might be wrong, of course.
I wouldn't say his dry and aggressive sense of humor is a way of COPING with being shy and untroverted - but I do see that side of Morrissey. I think he's just honest. When he says he's going to be embarrased, he means it, but it comes across as dry. and when he says he thinks they should do it, he really does, but also cringes at the thought.
@gpeddino You know your getting older when your childhood heros look more and more like your father. I feel odd watching him at 40. He looks too much like family.

I don't really think he is a nice person at all. I've seen other interviews as well - he is unfriendly, cold, miserable, sarcastic, and he makes the impression that only his opinion is correct and no one else can be right - too much belief in himself, not enough humility, I'm afraid. And before giving my comment a thumbs down, really consider what I'm saying.
"I miss the kinda things nobody understands why they could be missed. When your northern you're instilled with a certain feel for life that you can't get rid of."
I swear, he reads my mind. This is why I love Morrissey, not to mention his amazing gift in music but even if he wasn't famous, I would still admire him greatly for those words and for thinking that way. It's exactly how I think. I have such a respect for him. I would love to see him live one day.
You're the one wanting him to kiss your arse. I'm quite happy with him being the way he is. As for lyrics, in case you were unaware, some writers and performers actually express their lives via their words (I doubt you'll ever grasp that notion though). Perhaps you ought to take yourself a bit more seriously, then others might--unless, of course, you wish to remain a joke. Now you can have the final word and make yourself feel better.
know what? & btw why is it that you fell the need to attack me personally ? I just expressed an opinion about fauning fans who hang on his every word, is it just because I believe that not every lyric sang by him is an actual event that has literally happened to him? Honestly , isn`t that just a little far fetched to belive so ? and then feel the need to attack & be sarchastic to anyone who says different ?, not falling about gushing running around like " a hairdresser on fire" ?
How can you expect a guy whose written the lyrics he has for years and years to be some smiley, sociable, cuddly fellow who humours everyone's whims?????
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I love his music but his being aloof and "I dont like people " thing urks me a bit as a fan ,cos Im sure while hes being "aloof " & sunning himself in LA saying how he misses the gray slate of Manchester all the while spending the ill aforded money spent by his fans, hence I just downloaded his new album for free, btw after years of buying all his stuff smiths & post ,even collecting 12inches special editions etc so i dont feel guilty..
When you've lived his life and been through what he's been through (you seem to think it's all been Easy Street), then I'm sure we'll all take you very seriously. After all, what the hell do you know? He's done enough for us all to do the hell what he likes now. Most of us are just little insignificant ants who've never changed much of anything.
Well, if you listen very, very carefully to all of the lyrics that he's ever written both Smiths and solo--and you've let us know that you spent your "ill-afforded" money on just about everything-- you should be able to grasp some of what he's gone through. Besides, I was simply indicating that it might be wiser not to judge the actions and attitude of another without having some idea of what it might be to stand in their shoes. I wasn't claiming to have grown up with him!
