First of all, it's Asian, not oriental. Second of all it is known that Lee was supposed to have gotten the part, but didn't because Hollywood didn't like Asian's at that point in time. It is in Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story.

I know what Oriental means, but it is considered offensive to many Asians. In most parts of the US, Asian is taught as the proper way to describe someone from Asia. Oriental is used in reference to objects or foods, not actual people so as not to cause offense. Referring to some Asian people Oriental is like calling a black person colored, it's not really a slur but can be offensive to some.
