Dude- youre not saying anything. Youre just talking about this thing "attitude" in a very vague way - I was referring to it in the context of the conversation. Not to do with training, not in the ring - all the other stuff - ie: talking in interviews, about other fighters, after they win etc.

In fact - if anything, people said for a long time that Penn lacked the right attitude during training. So basically - if youre still confused - let me clarify. A fighters attitude towards their fighting, training etc is separate from this "douche"-ness youre talking about. All of these guys train and fight with pretty much the same attitude, its the other thing - their personality - that we're talking about. But if being confident, focused and intense means being a douche - then its not much.

yeah - I thought that was common knowledge. It seems like in every press release or article about Penn they talk about his "turnaround" after GSP and him finally taking his training seriously. Other fighters talked trash about how unfit he was etc. I can't post links - so either take my word for it, or look it up.
What is worrying "too much" - is it enough to get you 14-4 and 23-3 records? Was it enough to get Mir his win over Kongo? Who knows?!...

Also - I think that may be a narrow sample. It's not like there haven't been dozens of past-champions with histories of smack talking - in all sports. I don't think, if you look at it beyond those 3 individuals, there's a good match between humility (or respect, or whatever youre calling it) and success. And have you forgotten about Penn telling Sherk he was a "Dead man", that he would "kill him" or GSP telling Hughes that he wasn't very impressive. They certainly have mouths with those hands.

You see I'm not even sure what youre talking about anymore. You switch between saying "douche" then "Being cocky" then compare that with "being respectful" and "honourable" and "letting your hands/feet do the talking". I'm not sure any of those are mutually exclusive. For instance, GSPs words may not count as disrespectful to some, but it's certainly not just "letting your hands/feet do the talking".

Two guys with the most title defenses, two guys who have gotten much-publicised wars-of-words before.
