In my humble opinion, this version just doesn't make the grade. Nothing against the performer, who does a fine job -- it's just that a marimba has too much of an inherently "pretty" sound, with no possibility of different tone colors, no ability to bend notes, etc... It just doesn't match the expressive nature of the original version for saxophone.
It's great that JTV wants to include as many performers as he can in his music, but I think in some cases the results don't have the same payoff.

The intention was probably to experiment with the less harsh sound over the track; I like it.
