Maybe another reason why the video is wacky, he expresses himself and shows that he doesnt care and its him, though it may be just that the title is spaceman, sorry if it was long but thats what i think it means :)

Plus he also talks about a belief or "claim", the public didnt care because it wasnt telivised, and it chagned his whole idea on the society, it shows how selfish and corrupt we are. He makes many good points but he says that you souldn't let anyone controll you or change the way you are because they say they're in control, be yourself and stick to your ideas and beliefs.

I think i may know the meaning but its my opinion so dont really think im totally right. I think its about the government and our ideas, like others are the song and dream makers; the ones who make promises to us, then the one in charge, in power, (might be saying the president but it really could be anyone) that they are the spaceman controlling us what to do. "The Space man says everybody look down, its all in your mind" basically controlling what we think.

I.. love this song, right now its one of my absolute favorites.. But the video really disappointed me :T I thought they'd do something really trippy and awesome.. Not just people dancing around in wacky outfits. don't get me wrong I love them.. Just not with this song
