I agree with @ahen236! Don't judge him! I've talked to him over Facebook and he's the kindest guy that you'll ever talk to! And watch other performances! Might I suggest "I surrender"? Believe me, this boy can sing....just not so much this song. But don't hate on him please.

Rather than listening to 5-yr-old clips, how about listening to something more recent. Especially "Close Every Door To Me" from "Joseph and the Amazinng Technicolor Dreamcoat" that he did last year.

I've heard the original and am not a fan. Also, I know this guy and he's one of the most gifted, kindest people I've ever met. Perhaps before making judgements you should watch more than one performance, and something more recent than five years old.

When I've heard "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)" by Areatha Franklin and George Michael, I've thought it's not more difficult to sing than other songs, but now I heard this two coverversions from American Idol (Fantasia Barrino & Diana Degarmo; Anthony Fedorov) and both versions are really, really bad, and it seems to be a really difficult song to sing.

I agree with that entirely, he was the second-most popular contestant of the 4th season and imo, the second best. American Idol might very well rig the results, look at how Clay lost when he led every single week from the wild-card round and how Paula guaranteed that Bo Bice would be in the final.

I think he was great, my fave of AI Season 4...underrated - what a beautiful clear voice - not a flawless performance but some of his notes give me chills. Very hard to solo on a song designed to be a duet too. Gotta give props, yo. :P
