I don't like charles cross. Read four of his books, two about Kurt, and they are all lies and bashing him only focusing on the bad things he has done. He should not be associated with Kurt Cobain.
@ZeldaFoxEars I think that a fair interpretation of Halperin's book would be that it's about as "fair and accurate" as Cross's book, lol, except biased to the opposing view, if that makes any sense. Objectively though, all of the Cobain/Nirvana books have their strengths and weaknesses (with regards to the bias of the author), but the book that seemed the most grounded in reality, to me, was Everett True's book.
I'm a cult Nirvana fan. I have the Nirvana logo tattooed on my arm, but I haven't read "Journals". I have made a conscious decision not to, because i want to respect Kurt's memory, unlike that greedy, self-centered asshole Courtney Love.

An old bf gave me a copy of Kurt's journals for my 20th birthday. I was in a REALLY bad place at the time, and reading his journals was like reading my own. Now, I'm, in a much better place in my life. It's sad that Kurt died... He did some amazing shit, no doubt, but I feel that, had he lived, he could have brought about an even stronger change in music then he did. But who knows? It's still sad to have lost a legend, almost 20 years after his death.

Inside of me I am convinced that publish those diaries is something very wrong and disrespectful! Nobody in the world but his family should have the right to know his private thoughts. Kurt was sick with acid reflux. The medicine the doctors gave him didn't help and no one ever told him how a healthy diet could have cured him. As he was trying to find a cure, managment and the record company made him go on tour. That's when he lost it. I can relate. I was really sick until I found a hollistic doctor in Phoenix. Look at Daniel Johns of Silverchair. He almost died of reactive arthitis until he went to L.A. to see a natural doctor. Now, he is in the best shape of his life.

actually he does he talks about how kurt was going to divorce courtney and how he was sick of the band. The book makes Kurt seem a lot more depressing than he really was, but it's good nonetheless and it actually gets a lot right, it's just when it comes to kurt's emotional side the book makes him seem like some pathetic depressing piece of shit when he wasn't.

When someone chooses to kill themselves like Kurt did, it has nothing to do with bravery. It's emotional and physical numbness. And it's not about anyone else in the world. People say it's "selfish", but when someone decides to take their life, it has nothing to do with anyone or anything worldly. It's a sad state of affairs, but IMO no one has a right to comment on another person choosing to die.
The thing is: The media, including both musicians, the news, actors, etc. have all turned suicide into this terrible thing and so many people get the completely wrong impression of it. A lot of people who say committing suicide is selfish or it makes you a pussy or w/e have never gotten to that point in their lives. Because like you said, it's not about yourself in most cases it's actually for others because you find yourself not worthy of living or you think it'd be better to be gone and in
other cases it's because as you said, it's general numbness your body and mind get to the point where you can't handle it so instead of choosing to suffer more, you become numb much like kurt was towards the end of his life, and to live like that is just terrible and it really sucks. So then people kill themselves, it has nothing to do with courage or selfishness it's just how a particular person's frame of mind is and unfortunately it does permanent damage to everyone around them.

Kurt didn't kill himself. The spent shell was found on the wrong side of the body. The level of heroin would have caused him to go unconscious within seconds. The suicie note is in dispute. Kurt died in the process of drawing up a will excluding Courtney Love. If the divorce was finalized Courtney would have walked away with only a meager portion of Kurt's wealth. Since he died, she got everything. The SPD fracked up the investigation.
Also, It's not a "cosnpiracy theory". This sorta thing happens all the time, it's just that in this case it was a rockstar. Also, there are other similar cases where the police frack up investigations and then refuse to admit they make mitakes. I could give you tons of these cases as well. It's his job, he happens to enjoy learning and writing about famous people. A lot of people do. I don't know whether or not he thinks he was actually relevant to Cobain himself (that would be a little delusional), and he is an attention whore (he's almost omnipresent in Cobain documentaries) but he's really not as bad as everyone says. The book makes Kurt seem a lot more depressing than he really was, but it's good nonetheless and it actually gets a lot right, it's just when it comes to kurt's emotional side the book makes him seem like some pathetic depressing piece of shit when he wasn't.

When someone chooses to kill themselves like Kurt did, it has nothing to do with bravery. It's emotional and physical numbness. And it's not about anyone else in the world. People say it's "selfish", but when someone decides to take their life, it has nothing to do with anyone or anything worldly. It's a sad state of affairs, but IMO no one has a right to comment on another person choosing to die.

other cases it's because as you said, it's general numbness your body and mind get to the point where you can't handle it so instead of choosing to suffer more, you become numb much like kurt was towards the end of his life, and to live like that is just terrible and it really sucks. So then people kill themselves, it has nothing to do with courage or selfishness it's just how a particular person's frame of mind is and unfortunately it does permanent damage to everyone around them.

Kurt didn't kill himself. The spent shell was found on the wrong side of the body. The level of heroin would have caused him to go unconscious within seconds. The suicie note is in dispute. Kurt died in the process of drawing up a will excluding Courtney Love. If the divorce was finalized Courtney would have walked away with only a meager portion of Kurt's wealth. Since he died, she got everything. The SPD fracked up the investigation.
