I remember being happy most of the time Cronkite was on the air. My folks were still married. I was in primary school, when he retired in 1981. I already miss him terribly.
Yes, fistbang. People watched CBS news! Even in L.A. back in the 60's we only had seven stations! My family watched the Huntley/Brinkley Report, (NBC). RIP Mr. Cronkite.

People, you need to look into the council on foriegn relations,of which that lady is a member. And thier main goal is to END freedoms of the peoples!
In my family, watching the CBS Evening News was a MUST, even when Walter Cronkite was on vacation. I treasure those days so much. He truly was a part of the family. May he R.I.P.
We'll all miss you Walter -- no one will ever be able to replace you. R.I.P
I'll always remember as a kid growing up & interested in the news watching Walter most every evening on CBS News. And I learned to imitate his "and that's the way it is" sendoff.
I also enjoyed his hosting of the New Year's Day concert from Vienna on PBS.
A part of my childhood, teen years, and adulthood....I remember all the legendary broadcasts. Much respect to Mr. Cronkite...and that's the way it will always be...
he was able to tell in his on words.....that's the way is is ! the best .

He was! Read his book "A Reporter's Life". You can learn about real television journalism.
