  • REFUSE REFUGEES, FREE LOADING SCUMS... JUST ACCEPT THE HARDWORKING QUALIFIED COMPETENT IMMIGRANTS FROM PHILIPPINES,INDIA THAT ACTUALY CONTRIBUTES THE CANADIAN ECONOMY

  • i hate these tamil and sir lankan thing.. this is about immigration so stick to it... to personal

  • as for them talking about all immigrants being educated, they should tell that to all the immigrants on welfare in Toronto..... were flooded with people on welfare with 6-7 kids, they are smart they always have a child under 18 so they can reap the benefits of welfare. their kids learn how to use the system and they do the same when they grow up....... how is that helping our economy.

  • the fucked up thing about this interview, when they showed rob ford, during that speech hes talking about Toronto because this city is starting to get really congested, we need new highways and more underground trains before we can add more peeps to this city. Regardless if the people come from other country's or other small towns in Ontario, Toronto needs to slow down its growth.

  • Send the scammers back. They passed by many safe countries on the way here, these are illegal immigrants NOT refugees!!!

  • I've been trying to immigrate under family class for the last 2 years. Its too expensive and complicated. My life is on hold and I have lost hope of ever finishing school. I can't work and my husband is disabled and can't support me. If I could have just moved here like a normal person and started working right away we would have been fine but now we will be losing our apartment next month. We just want a place where we can be together. USA was even worse. Thanks Canada and USA!

  • @Aprilshowersss well theres actual canadian born citizens who cant find work, if you think we should put immigrants ahead of our own citizens your wrong

  • @BumJuiceDrinker I know. My husband is Canadian and disabled. He lost his job because of his disability and now he cannot find work. He also can not get on any form of social income support including disability benefits because I am American. I don't want special treatment, I just want a normal life. Falling in love with someone from another country guarantees that your life will be 5 times harder than it would have been otherwise. People need to understand this.

  • @Aprilshowersss Your husband has been denied E.I and Workers Comp claims why? It couldn't be due to his marriage with a U.S citizen.

  • @alexpeters He was fired, and therefor was denied EI. He cannot get disability benefits because I am American.

  • @Aprilshowersss Thanks for replying. would he qualify for benefits if you filed for a divorce? Legally only.

  • @alexpeters Yes. It is an option we have considered. But then my immigration app would fail.

  • @BumJuiceDrinker The reality is: Under most circumstances, Canadians put their own citizen ahead of immigrants at hiring, and we complain about losing jobs to immigrants.

  • Why is the emphasis put on immigration instead of domestic growth? Would it not be more beneficial to encourage Canadians to have more children? Instead we are relying on a rag tag mix of immigrants and refugees than don't necessarily share Canadian sensibilities regarding human rights, rule of law, womens rights etc.

I think that all immigration is not bad, but it has reached the point where Canada can no longer absorb the amount that we take in.

  • @EruditeCanadian why are people bent on defining people in stone-set contexts. The Canadian values you mention are taught, not ingrained into Canadian citizens. That is true whether you were born in Canada, or elsewhere. Get off your high horse, these are people and their minds are capable of absorbing all the information your mind has absorbed. It doesn't matter if that information is the value of one vote in a democratic election, or the ability to perform a complicated surgery. HUMANS!

  • @alexpeters

I'm not on a high horse at all.. I don't begrudge immigrants for coming or wanting to come to Canada.. I just see it as unnecessary in most cases. Immigration is, after all, supposed to be in the country's best interests, not in the immigrants best interests. People seem to forget that.

Values are INGRAINED in people from a young age... It becomes more difficult to change someones belief system the older they are. Easier to raise children with your values than change an adult's

  • @alexpeters

Nice comment on my channel... Lame...

To ingrain is defined as to deeply impress or instill, That means taught. They are the same thing. If it is just as easy to "ingrain" values into an adult as it is a child, try to tell a 60 year old Hindu that there is only one god and his name isn't Vishnu. Try to convert him to Christianity and see how you do.

As I was saying, it is easier to instill values, whether Canadian, Christian, Hindu etc from infancy than from adulthood.

  • Immigration levels are easy to understand. The information is all over the internet to anyone with the least motivation. Check out statistics Canada, for a start. Canada sets the numbers every November, most recently november first; targets about 250,000 new comers for the next year. US is about 1.25 million (with a population abut ten times larger than Canada, thus, levels HALF per capita). This information is elementary and very easy to verify. This is not contraversial. Look it up.

  • In terms of refugees, Canada must have more stringent methods for sorting out how gets in and who does not. The IRB requires written submissions to justify a deniel; however, no written defence is required of the judge for letting people in.

Having said that, I personally am never offended when a true refugee gets into Canada, whether by boat or by plain. When so many Tamil "refugees" return home for Christmas having won their claim, I feel they should be deported.

  • Vietnamese refugees came here by boat, were they terrorist too?

  • @YumeWire Excellent point!!!!!!!!

  • Canada has the highest immigration in the world, levels higher and sustained longer since 1990 than any other time in Canada's history. Most countries of WWII had a baby boom generation and a labour shortage -- none jacked up immigration like Canada.

This is a terribly biased episode, and it is deplorable that the 4 guests have the same view on immigration! Ipsos Reid polls show most Canadians want immigration lowered. This is public manipulation at its finest. Shame on you Steve Paikin.

  • @axpsrt What are you, stupid??? The US has way more immigrants than Canada.

  • @ttiiyy

Are YOU ever stupid: look it up. Any idiot knows that in real terms the US, being 10 times Canada's size, has more immigrantion. Per capita, Canada has DOUBLE the US levels -- do your research.

  • @axpsrt And what research have you done? You can't even provide any data to back up your point. Give me a break.

  • THEY ARE PATHETIC - LIKE COCKROACHES LOOKING FOR SHIT TO FEED ON.

  • I think Sharry Aiken's opinion about the change of policy wrt skilled workers' is suspiciously disingenuous. The purported reason for restricting the occupations list was because for years, the labour market was not able to support certain occupations (on top of credentialing problems). We have numerous immigrants who have not been able to find jobs in their area of training. This was a huge issue in the news -- I'm surprised she had no idea about this motivation.
