  • I went to her concert last night and DAMN THAT CHICK ROCKS <3

    Holland loves you Selah <3 <3 <3

  • beautiful, talented and probably speaks 4 languages. get your act together americans.

  • @Taught77 I think that were Belgians who reacted and if you check her other interviews, you would know her French isn't all that. So multilingual, she is not. That said, she's an amazing singer and nobody here said otherwise so what's your point really...

  • @NM9005 if you dont get my point...... well.....

and at 22 speaking 3 or 4 languages is noteworthy.

  • @Taught77 You don't even know what languages she speaks so no, I didn't understand why you mentioned that in the first place. She speaks perfect Dutch and English quite fluently but her French is mediocre at best. Her German, no idea but my friend used to be in the same class as her and they didn't get German lessons so I doubt she can speak German...But whatever, she doesn't need to speak 4 languages imo, her music is what counts and she's very good at that. Bright future ahead for her =).

  • @NM9005 LOL. I really thought you Europeans were smarter than us.

Anyway since I have to explain.....

Americans can barely speak 1 language.

I watched her do interviews in Dutch, English, German and French. Thats amazing compared to an average American. With her talent and beauty I find this very appealing.

    Hope that helps you.

  • @Taught77 "I really thought you Europeans were smarter than us."

Way to generalize about an entire continent of many different countries/cultures/languages/...

  • @Synthiotics No reason to get upset. Its a complement to Europeans and its actually true.

USA is not very high in world education ranking.

  • @Taught77 I'm not upset at all! OMG WTF!!! Really, I'm not. But it's about time that people stopped generalizing about an entire continent. They don't do that with Asians or "Americans", either. USA =/= Venezuela, China =/= Japan, etc. and while it is true that most Europeans (excluding the French & the British) tend to be multilingual, that has less to do with education and more with the fact that we are confronted with different languages every day.

    also, you mean compliment. :)

  • @Synthiotics heh heh see? I cant even spell

  • @Taught77 yeah, i made a few as well.. "usuaLLy" for example :)

  • @Taught77 "Americans can barely speak 1 language."

There's plenty of native Spanish speakers in the USA, no? Don't they speak English as well?

And as I wrote earlier: not comparable. The USA is one huge single-language culture. Here in Belgium (which is about the size of your state of Maryland) we already have 3 (Flemish-Dutch, French & German) and since English is a mixture of West-Germanic and Norman French it's really easy to learn for us.

Anyway, I didn't mean to offend you :)

  • @Synthiotics No offense taken. I think if you lived here you would see that most people are satisfied with a very low level of education.

I understand that Europeans have more languages available to them which makes it easier to pick up more than one. But a person should always strive to make themself better even if its harder.

English is used everywhere on earth so its not really an achievement for Latinos or anybody else to speak english.

  • @Taught77 Sure, but that's not only in the US, it's the same in other English-speaking countries, too. Also with French-speakers. Many of them feel that because they're speaking a world language (many Francophones still think they do) that it's useless to learn any other. Believe me, our Francophones here in Belgium are rarely multilingual. And the quality of education varies greatly from one Euro country to the next. Belgium is usualy a top ranker in edu, that's true.

  • @NM9005 Oh I see, yes I can understand you now =). There's even a joke about that (what's somebody called who can speak 2 languages? bilingual; what's somebody called who can speak one language: an American) something like that =S. It doesn't apply to everybody of course. Well in Belgium we're multilingual anyway, so it's easier for us to learn other languages. Agreed, it is appealing and very helpful too for her career! Thanks for the explanation =)...

  • Nu nog frans leren, want je engels is ook niet echt geweldig :p

  • Bigg up gal Belgish talent !!

  • UNE VOIX ABSOLUMENT FANTASTIQUE,UNIQUE AU MONDE!..cette fille a devant elle un avenir fabuleux, prodigieux, explosif, encore inimaginable, mais supérieurement prometteur... :)
