Hey I have a 1988 Subaru wagon GL. I wanna put a 4" lift on it with 28" tires with a new motor. I'm currently runnin all stock right now and am bout to put on some C channel for new bumpers. How did ya do your lift? what is it? and what did ya do for a new motor? how was the swap?

Ok, the guys below are saying you can still get caught underneath on the drivetrain & diff etc., BUT at least you're not getting caught on the overhangs either end of the car.

PLUS, I'm sure you DO have bigger tyres on it, lifting it further.

When you lift a subaru, it is basically a body lift. The body is lifted up, and the drivetrain lowered to fix the driveline angles. Its a fairly straightforward process, with good results. A 4" lifted subie on 28's will do a lot. You can see my '83 in my videos.

Actually body lift is probably the least benifical lift you can do, it keeps your frame at the same height it was before leaving you to get hung up just like you had no lift at all. Unless you add some larger tires of course

its an allied armament lift but they went out of business and one of the fab guys there took it over and is in the process of getting it up and going again...and the motor is stock and i actually just blew a head gasket so now im doing the ej swap...wiring will be a blast!!!!

the wiring harness for the ej is a very simple one im planning on doing an sti swap on mine but not sure if i want to stay with a 5 speed or 6 speed or get an older loyal 5 speed that has the high and low gears not sure if that could handle an sti moter

@theeverybodyhater you will be better with the old hi/low gear box and the hi/low gearbox is very much the same inside some have a better 1st gear than the early sti box. if you use the non turbo leone/loyal gearbox its got a lower low range gear in it then the turbo model gear box.
