  • Of course the Indonesians will always say everything from them when it is clearly a South East Asian cultural product. Sort of European nations arguing from whom the Steak originated!! Isnt that funny? Who have worked hard on popularizing many SEA products abroad and that what matters. Thank Steve on your comment in this video on Nyonya and Peranakan style, also on your replies from some uneducated comments. You are very well-informed on spicy foods in this region!

  • sambal comes from indonesian. als so from suriname later. goreng is from indonesia not maleysia. in holland very populair food.nasi bami.

  • @gertleeuwarden Goreng is not a dish or food but an Indonesian AND Malaysian word meaning FRIED as in Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice) and Bami Goreng (Fried Noodle). The Malaysian language is almost the same as Indonesian and both countires which border each other share many similar foods and traditions. Sambal may have originated in Java hundreds of years ago but it spread to through the Indonesian islands to Malaysia as well. Sambals are an integral part of Malaysian cuisine as well.

  • @SpicySteveSorko Don't mind them who criticism Steve!

  • Sambal original from Indonesia , that's not good sambal sorry. And prawn over cook.

  • @94wulan Try something before you trash it. While "sambal" is in origin a Javanese word, Malaysians and Filipinos have been cooking sambals for hundreds of years. They can also vary greatly, even in Indonesia, based on regional, religious & ethnic variations. A sambal can also be just a condiment like "sambal trassi" or a complete dish like this excellent Nonya recipe from Penang. Try it; you might actually like it as so many others have but don't forget to not overcook the prawns!

  • Am from penang!!!

  • Love the dish, yummy, thanks for the recipe, Spicy Steve and Trish you ROCK!!!

  • Trish is so awesome.

  • tasty but your prawns are hellishly overcooked why not premake the sauce and deglaze the prawns so you dont have to reduce the sauce with the prawns still in there or you could just take the prawns out and add them back later

  • @djrakman it may looks overcooked..but u never try..u never know..taste like heaven :)

  • @scarletortiz81 actually i have made sambal goreng for years in professional restaurant situations and we premake the sauce i know it tastes like heaven too, my family is from JB and KL :)

  • @djrakman yes chef...am not a possessional cook.. just and ordinary women who love to cook :)

  • I WANT ALSO EAT THAT LOOK YUMMY HEHEHEHE

  • Good show.
