where do all the winners of Idol go after they win and don't do squat with their careers? like Taylor Hicks and Rueben Studdard, etc? Fantasia didn't do much either. What do they do with the $1 million dollar contracts they win? It seems pretty wasteful of them to push to get to the top and then just...fade away.
if i have to choice over carrie and Kelly i would choice kelly cuz .. kelly Is a pop singer and carrie and kelly are kind of similar not music wise but .. the vocal and they sing their hearts out...and theres aways a story in the lyrics and they know how to bring it out
Idol has made a huge impact on the music industry. From all of Kelly's and Carrie's hits to Daughtry with a 5x Platinum album to Jordin Sparks with "No Air", this show has made some absolutely huge stars. Sure Ruben and Taylor might not be signed anymore, but its impossible to deny that this show had made stars out of regular people. Compared to some other talent shows in the world, this show has done phenomenally well.
I've met her twice. Once back in May in Washington when she sang for a Memorial day event. After she rehearsed, she came out and talked the fans, signed, etc...And last month she did a concert, and afterwards I met her at the Meet & Greet. Very nice both times!

Season 5 was the best season ever besides from the fact that taylor won. The contestants were the most talented in that season. Katharine definitely should have won. Shame on you taylor fans. And i cant wait for the house bunny!
For some reason I absolutely HATED her on American Idol... I can't even describe it really. It was the way the show sometimes portrayed her, I think. I didn't see her audition until after she lost, and it showed a much kinder, humble person than I'd seen in any episode. And of course I was mad at her ahead of time for being so beautiful, and I instantly decided she was conceited. I was overly and unfairly critical. But she really is talented, and I can't wait to see her in The House Bunny!
i agree that season 5 had lots of talent. it turned into a popularity contest because the front runners were Katharine and Chris. I still cant believe that Taylor won. This season right now 08 has been weird for me, i feel like the 2 davids have had the most consistency and the rest were just mediocre and they were just sticking around for the sake of having to eliminate just ONE person per week...we'll see how it turns out.

I can definitely see why Taylor won over Katherine. He has depth, maturity and soul. Katherine has chops, but she is shallow. She is way over her head with this Aretha standard. You can tell she's never had her heart broken or been yanked around. Golden girls can't give out as performers.
It's not because Katherine is white: it is because she does not have a "big voice." As someone who spent many years in the perorming arts, trust me, there are black women with "small" voice and white women with "big voices, etc."

treasureone,I kinda understand what you're saying about lack of depth but Katharine has her own style and to be honest-she knows what she's doing and she's very good at that too.
Couldn't disagree with you more about the golden girls thing though.There's no such thing as golden girls.We're all humans and we all have our share of disappointments,happy times and some bad times.
You can't just judge people from seeing them on tv or something...

I can definitely see why Taylor won over Katherine. He has depth, maturity and soul. Katherine has chops, but she is shallow. She is way over her head with this Aretha standard. You can tell she's never had her heart broken or been yanked around. Golden girls can't give out as performers.

It's not because Katherine is white: it is because she does not have a "big voice." As someone who spent many years in the perorming arts, trust me, there are black women with "small" voice and white women with "big voices, etc."
