I swear, people underrate Corvettes so much... It costs what, a little more than $500 to get this car into the 10s? That's amazing. My buddy spent nearly $38k to get his LT1 camaro to run 10s... not just into the motor either, its got full drag suspension, drag radials, and a damn good driver. Corvette's are amazing machines.

@need2speed94 yes but the modded vs stock car is a ricer argument that both C6ZO6 owners and GTR owners would probably agree on. Both cars are priced close enough to be compared, especially if it's the ZO7 equipped C6Z. Stock for stock they do many things great. I do think the 2012 GTR really improved especially in trap speed and roll race capabilities. This was the one area where a stock LS7 Z would crush a 2009-11 GTR. This has changed now but still a great driver in a Z will win

If you think about it, a used 2006 C6Z can be bought for low 40's or high 30's now and if driven correctly, with a DR in negative DA, high 10's are possible. I live close to these fast tracks so I have the magic air these guys have as well! A used GTR is still priced a bit steep for me considering they have upgraded 2 times now from the 1st gen.

I am not a fan of either the GTR or Corvettes, but a stock GTR (yes, that includes the tires it comes with) will beat a stock Corvette of equal or lesser value, pretty much any day of the year.

The ZR1 does the quarter mile in 11.5 seconds--still slower than the 11 seconds flat from the GTR.

@nallen100 you know, that long mile streatch at the end of the lap, after the last corner, btw just to let you know you need more information, dry days for zr1 and z06 and wet day for the gtr, both the corvettes had super-slick track DOT competition tires while the gtr had stock tires, zr1 had non stock saftey equipment along with a roll cage (and if you didn't know roll cages help handling) gtr stock, zr1 beat it by 5 sec and z06 by 2 sec with all the advantages

@Flabernat Pretty sure this was with the ZO7 package and factory DR. I know it's factory spec and it really burned me that MT implied they were cheater tires or some shit. I'm just pointing out that a regular C6Z ran those numbers. It had the ZR1 brakes, suspension and stickiest available tires. Pretty sure it did 7:19 around the ring too which was EPIC!
@3O2MuStAnG Love the Z but that AMS car was 205 in the standing mile. Huge difference. Stock C6Z may go 168-171. Best I read stock ZR1 was 180 so 205 is LIGHT Speed faster at those levels. Again, stock versus modded is ricer math but you used the example. A stock 2012 GTR just did 175.3MPH in standing mile so they have improved since 1st gen. Great video regardless. I have it favorited for some time. The current record is now 10.71@130 IIRC.

Dude, "slicks" are not on street legal cars, as I mentioned FROM THE START.
What does this mean in real life? It means that, if you pull up next to a GTR with a Z06 at a stoplight and try to race, you will lose miserably.
Therefore, in the real world, the GTR is faster.

@Tj1056 Long straight my ass. The "straight" as you call has two bends in it, is uphill, then downhill after the second bend. I think the problem is the uphill on the "straight" where the gtr is underpowered. That is no fault of anyone but nissan. They could have put a real motor and a real trans in the car, but they didnt. They put a computer with tons of fancy useless gadgets. Your using engine size as an excuse lol. Nissan could have used a v8 if they wanted...

@nallen100 you know, that long mile streatch at the end of the lap, after the last corner, btw just to let you know you need more information, dry days for zr1 and z06 and wet day for the gtr, both the corvettes had super-slick track DOT competition tires while the gtr had stock tires, zr1 had non stock saftey equipment along with a roll cage (and if you didn't know roll cages help handling) gtr stock, zr1 beat it by 5 sec and z06 by 2 sec with all the advantages

@3O2MuStAnG Love the Z but that AMS car was 205 in the standing mile. Huge difference. Stock C6Z may go 168-171. Best I read stock ZR1 was 180 so 205 is LIGHT Speed faster at those levels. Again, stock versus modded is ricer math but you used the example. A stock 2012 GTR just did 175.3MPH in standing mile so they have improved since 1st gen. Great video regardless. I have it favorited for some time. The current record is now 10.71@130 IIRC.

its crazy that a z06 (505 hp) can keep up with the zr1 (638 hp) with just a set of drag radials. imagine what the zr1 could do with those tires...

@RicerEater1978 the ZR-1 it did the same time on slicks, but it went thru the trap at a higher trap of 133.21. these are some sick cars, nothing can touch them with a good driver behind the wheel
